Brecon Jazz Festival

Anyone staying at the Rugby club for this event?

Phil

You bet.

Arriving Friday afternoon. Leaving Sunday afternoon.

Bookings Fri 21:00, Sat 16:30 and Sun 13:30.

Rest of the time devoted to eating, drinking and taking the piss out of anything that won't turn nasty.

O3 registered Burstner 530. With FUN stickers.

I've never driven into Brecon before but when I emailed the rugby club regarding directions, they told me to get close to the correct road and there'll be plenty of people around to give directions, no problem. They obviously don't know me. Until then Google Streetview will be getting a workout.

I'll put up my Fun flag for you to navigate to - you'll probably see it just as you leave Bridgend.

Not sure about that, but I'll be disappointed if I can't see it as I leave the Beacons

Champers has PM'd me with some directions, so between that, the sat-nav, your flag and the RFC wardens/signs I shouldn't need to use the distress flares this time

OK....so I'm leaving here around 2pm and hoping to be at Brecon by 4pm

If concerts are on, and I find them, it looks like I'll be wondering around early Friday evening, late Friday....oh....all sorts of times.

Of course, feel free to find my van and see if I'm there..it's on plot A6, whatever that is. Small blue Doblo. Probably one of the smallest vans that'll be there.

Priority 1: work out facilities at RFC
Priority 2: look for Funster flags/stickers

Hopefully I'll bump into you all at some point....if not....have a good weekend.

Well we are here.
Pitch A4. Fun in windscreen.

Pitifully slow connection so don't post here and expect a quick reply, will be turned off.

Great sport watching folk trying to catch tents.

Got your text....will reply....but this is quicker.

I've found Phil and Brian....won't be able to meet up tonight because I've got a concert at 7:30. Hopefully I'll catch you at some point.

Thanks for letting us know, have a good time and hopefully see you tomorrow

Great that you found the others ok

ps glad you found Brecon and didnt get lost :Rofl1::Rofl1::Rofl1:

We were in Brecon 2 weeks ago, stayed at Priory Mill Farm, access is not very good, no hook up but has toilets and showers only 10 min walk to town, great setting by river. Owned by lovely couple, mainly for tents, but can take small campers. Ours is 5.8 metres; I wouldn't like to try and get anything longer down the access track. here's link Link Removed

:thumb: I actually arrived early....and there was Brian, walking towards me as I tried to find my spot.

No chance of losing my van amongst the others...they've stuck it under the rugby posts

Just returned from first concert.....nice

Mega Success

This was unexpectedly good.

Company of some funsters - always good.
Good music.
Cute town.

No time to overdo funster meets but the late evening in Taran Las's lovely U shaped lounge, with a little medicinal alcohol was perfect. For socialising you just can't beat a U. Six of us sat in comfort. I'm impressed.

Music.
Pee Wee Ellis. Big, black, voice like gravel. Everything you'd expect he delivered. They were standing in the aisles jiving as best they could, the rest stamping their feet. Amazing performance.

Jaqui Dankworth. Big disappointment. The sound was so poor and distorted we only got a hint of her mother's voice in there. The backing group drowned her out most of the time.

Acker Bilk. He is voice is weak now but he still brought the house down. Wonderful.

Olivia Moor. I took a chance on this one. I've never heard a violin played like it. She was amazing. Hopefully a rising star.

Brecon. Probably normally just an inconvenient hold up en-route to somewhere else but dressed up in it's jazz clothes it was magic. As exciting as any cute place we visited across Europe.

Had a brilliant time, excellent music shared with great friends.

For those not into Jazz, the fringe festival (running alongside the Jazz festival) offers bands playing rock, cover versions etc. There was also a mention of a beer festival too. The county show (Saturday only) was in the field next to the Rugby club's temporary campsite. Brecon is a compact town easy to navigate on foot and the venues for the concerts are very close to the town centre. A cycle ride along the canal side keeps you alert.

Thanks to all for the enjoyable company. Thanks also to Brecon brewery for some stonking hangovers!

Phil

Phil did us proud with his Funster flag. I couldn't see it as I descended from the Brecon Beacons, but it did seem to be the tallest item on the pitch, other than the rugby posts.
