Breathalysed in Spain

Yes, I read that post but it wasn't precise. I too live in Spain, albeit I am not Spanish, but I think 43 years of residence counts for something and I have consulted my friends in the Guardia Civil, who at the end of the day are probably the ones that will knock on your door to see if you are pissed.
Thanks Barriesimpson for the clarity. Trust you had a good trip back to the Canaries.

I once traveled with an engineer working at Sullom Voe oil terminal on Shetland. We’d had a bit to drink and he drove quickly along narrow twisting roads: “the less time we’re in the car, less chance of getting caught”!
I travelled with him ONCE

I can't answer the OP but I can say in Portugal you need to be a bit careful when not on campsites. I have seen a few argueing the point they are not going to drive but at the same time wildcamping is problematic, so why are you drinking is the cops stance. You also have the PSP and the GNR, depends which one is visting to what the reaction will be, at the same time you seenthem in the café having a beer and coffee.

On a side note I was driving down the road in Portugal and coming up to a junction to turn left, as I am slowing down a Toyota truck when straight over the road and hit a wall, the guy went straight through the windscreen. Time I got there he was on the floor, totally pissed with blood everywhere. He must of been in his 70's, old Portuguese farmer. Told me a few times as I lifted him up not to call the cops, he called someone and after 10 mins they came and took him away. I thought he must be a Medronho farmer sampling his goods, the things you see outside the tourists spots.

One of my neighbours got caught out the morning after, he was over the limit. He had a 600€ fine, which included getting his car back from the compound. He was driving the following day, not sure how much his insurance went up though.
I've been stopped at 10am and required to take a test....quite common after fiestas..
I was allowed to go on my way...🤔🇪🇦

Yes, they do that a lot. My days of getting completely wrecked are over, so no chance of me being over the limit in the morning.

I've never heard anything like that, Barrie. Somebody in the Guardia Civil told you that? I'll look for a right source and post it here but my knowledge is if the vehicle is not moving, not being driven (not only engine running) you can't be charged.
I'll have a look(y)
Meanwhile, don't drink and drive, you lot☝️

Yes, absolutely you can if they can prove you drank before parking. An easy example is if the engine is warm, albeit that is unlikely.

I'm surprised with my answer too, mind you, I'm now 80ish so haven't been involved too closely with operations since I had my cancer.
That's the reason I employed a GOOD Transport Manager! 😄
Thankyou for the Hearthug f6c but I had my Cancer over 15yrs ago and I'm still here enjoying retirement! 👍
