Boxer or similar front grill

Would anyone with a 2012 Boxer or similar advise me if I have some kind of grill missing from the grill below the main grill as in the photo. Travelling back from Spain last week something was making a noise and then there was a louder noise and looking back through the mirrors I saw something that I had run over.

Here's my 2017 boxer

Just photo'd .A different style but yours looks ok to me..
Some vans had a sump cover plate that may have come off.

If that’s the radiator behind the bottom grill then it looks like there should be nothing there.

No, all there and I’ve been underneath the van today having a look, something was making a noise and then fell off.
