I used this site last year in August for a one nighter before an early tunnel crossing. Cost was £38.20. Bit steep, but we needed it.
Was looking to book it for another single night in May 2023, but they are quoting £51.50.

Is this 35% price increase the norm across all CAMC sites?

Looks like they are about to lose another member.

How long ago where you there ? We were there recently and it’s under new ownership .We ordered a couple of pints and out came a massive plate of freebie roasties !
Sorry it was ages ago probably 7-8 years ago.

It was bloody chaotic.

New owners now so I am glad it is good;

Squeeze them till the pips squeak is CAMC policy. I only remain a member for the CL network although, and has been observed, some of those are getting a bit silly with prices too. Better off getting a lateish ferry and finding an aire on the other side than paying CAMC "Dick Turpin" prices.
Totally agree, we spent 2 months in Spain and Portugal last spring ..... most expensive site of the whole trip was Hurn Lane in Highbridge on our way to Plymouth and then Minnows near Tiverton on the way home. Just silly prices.

Just checked the price out for 8th Jan for a ferry pitch £27 for 2 adults —- won’t be staying there again ! If your not a member it would be £43 !!!
My CMC runs out in March and have already canceled, I hope others do as well , fed up of rip off prices for stuff I don’t need .

Both 'clubs' are businesses not really clubs at all but marketing says if you make people feel as though they belong they will be happy to pay through the nose for it .
Private sites have always been a much better option in my honest opinion but especially during winter it gives you more choice when there aren't that many sites still open .

Is it not possible to use CL or CS sites if you aren't a member? Can you not just book direct with the campsite.? Of course it may not be as easy to find them however a quick google map of an area and type camp sites generally brings up most sites in the area. I think people need to start to use more independent sites to encourage them and give CCC and CAMC something to think about.
It may be possible but the oversight of the CLs & CSs is with the Clubs and they say members only. If a CL or CS was found to be regularly allowing non members to use them, then they could be removed from the system.

We paid £33.40 for a ferry pitch on 24th July this year for 2 of us. Next year for the same date (and the days either side) its £37.50. Same van, same people. 12% increase, pretty much in line with the inflation rate. Could depend on when you booked in August, compared to maybe bank holiday time in May? Trouble with CAMC etc. is they are a bit like any other chain establishment/business, bland and predictable. It's a bit like staying at a premier inn or a travel lodge, handy but not a special experience. Mind you, we did stay overnight at a pub near Folkestone last year, which although 'free' meant we experienced one of the most inedible/expensive meals I've ever had. C'est la vie.
