Bits and Bobs You've Added To Your MH

Done lots to our ancient Kon-Tiki & still busy adding.

Forgot to mention the 11kg Gasit refillable tank now installed.

I'm not talking about solar panels, inverters, batteries. I mean things like extra shelving, cup holders, a container for xyz? I'd be interested to see what is useful to another funster that could be useful to us.

These are on our list to do:

1. Take the rail out of bottom wardrobe and add a shelf to fit a dirty laundry section

2. Install a rail with a removable curtain between the lounge and kitchen so we have a private dressing area. The shower area is smaller than my coat cupboard!

3. Get a Bluetooth speaker that lives in the van permanently, we forgot it last trip. I can't cope without music and it's got to be a good speaker or it's not the same.

4. Look at a way to fit a cup/bottle holder for passengers in the back, the kids use the stretchy pouch thingy's but over time will get overstretched.

5. Fit an outdoor shower.

What else do we need that we never knew we needed?!
Making an outdoor shower is so easy..I figured it out in seconds..just open the bathroom window and poke the shower head through..great for the dog and no cost involved.
It needs 2 to operate it!!

Basic, really helpful stuff is rear camera, so I don’t hit anything whilst reversing, air assist so I don’t drag my low arse, as it was, one less thing to think about, swap from 2x6kg calor to 2x11kg refillable gas, and possibly the best. Decent tyres, so not camping ones.

Good idea ... it's just the massive job of installing a window in the first place that'd be the problem for us! :giggle:

Ah! I see.. you'd be better off installing a proper one!
I suppose I could get an ultra long hose and chuck it out the roof vent! :giggle: Alternatively remove the toilet cassette and shove it through the toilet base!!!!

Remove the short privacy curtain on overcab bed and replace with a long heavy curtain, hab area is nice and toasty and no heat loss through cab windows.

Towel rail . Behind drivers seat, take out table , push chair forward , rail swings sideways to put stuff on to dry. Also coat hooks higher up to hang wet jackets on to get the benefit of the heat to dry.

Absolutely, usually fixed on the ceiling eve n now we have downsized 2x bath towel + 1 hand towel. The most obvious usage is when traveling no matter how early a start we always shower and they do allow them to dry.
Never been keen on hanging washing off the MH,one has standards 😉
😅 I thought you meant the BRAND 3M! no wonder I couldn’t find any adhesive towel rails made by them! 🤣

Do away with the gas fire. And built a boot cupboard
in its place

Among other things I have added this little thing, so handy when going into the van and trying to shut the door as no need to stretch out for the handle.
Picked it up from The Range😁😁

Having just changed my current motor home for a smaller one due to a change in circumstances , emptying the older one was a nightmare , things I didn't really need , so now I have a chance to start again , I must add for the tenth time and I always say this one will be the last one , good luck with your endeavours.
Regards.

Nothing much. A towel holder on the end of the kitchen cabinet. The best thing was having Gaslow fitted and an outdoor gas point so we can have an outdoor kitchen.

One of the best additions that we made was to fit a Truma towel rail to the blown air vent in the bathroom. A little pricey, but toasty warm towels are bliss.

Alexa... Amazon Echo Dot with a wall mount and a 12v power cord that I run off a cigarette lighter. Assuming you have Internet access you can listen to virtually any radio station and as we have Amazon music we can listen virtually any music you can think of or audio books etc. You can also tell it to do things at home that you might have forgotten to do (assuming you have another at home).
Wouldn't be without it

1 external shower point.
2 bike rack in garage.
3 led strip lights in garage.
4 designed & 3d printed glass holders, toilet roll holder, cordless vacuum stand and many more …
5 7 extra mains points around the van & garage.
6 4 extra USB points near bed & lounge area
7 leisure battery power monitor
8 added second leisure battery and circuit to top up vehicle battery from the solar panels.
9 motorised the waste water valve (my favourite addition!)
10 an extra TV & two Fire TV sticks.
11 dual Mopeka gas level monitoring.
12 built aluminium racks into garage for storage.
13 external aerial point.
14 added another drawer (with soft close slides) inside existing double hight cutlery drawer to make use of some unused space.

Still looking for more ideas!

Hi folks. Lots of the same as others but one thing I have done and not seen listed. - two LED spot lights mounted just behind the front wheels, under the van pointing back and to the side, linked to the reversing lights. So as you go through a gate, you can still see. Great for the drive, and on ferries, in car parks or night halts when arriving at night.

easy to fit, if you can get under the van, can frack the wires and can use a soldering iron.
😏

1. A 2nd TV in the rear for Match of the Day.
2. Two bamboo soap dishes next to the rear TV 12v socket for the 300w inverter. These do the rechargeable toothbrush or hold phones on charge from the USB sockets.
Not a big list but the TV has been a great addition for relaxing on the fixed bed in the rear of the van.

My wife comes out of the bathroom after her shower, stark naked, and walks into the room.
She said to me, “Babe, shut the curtains, I don’t want the neighbours to see me naked”.
“Don’t worry” I said, “If the neighbours see you naked, they’ll shut their own effing curtains!”

Like this idea which I may well copy. I don't like command strips as whenever I've used them they always seem to fall off after a while. I was thinking on the line of magnetic self adhesive tool strips.
And of course whilst we are at it, each tool has its shape painted in white on the door so you can see immediately which tool has been taken and not returned by Mr or Mrs Nobody.
