Birdwatching meet

Some good ideas here, Farne Islands next Spring/Summer also.

It could also materialise into different meets depending on where you are in the UK.

Because of Avian Flu and so many birds dying, the Farne Islands were closed to the public a few months ago. We still have many areas closed here in East Anglia.

Hopefully next year though it may have changed

Just found this thread does anyone read the posts now.
I'm a fan of wildlife and try my best to photograph it. When in Boston, I frequent Frampton Marsh rspb site. Cairpark OK for mohomes but don't know about ovelrnight. The variety of different birds here ifs vast.

Bang into my wildlife and birding Paul. Would love a meet if dates were favourable 👍😯

Dont know how I missed this first time round 🤔

What about May, Budle Bay or other location sounds good.

We need to get something arranged I can then book the AL from work.

Any takers?

There is the wetland centre in Llanelli (South wales). The Gateway campsite next door, have never been so can’t comment. The off road cycle tract runs 17 miles up to Bury Port too.

That site says that on arrival you pay a fiver deposit for your electric card, our warden then goes to your pitch with you and shows you how to use your electric card and the meter?
Does that mean you then pay an extra charge for what you use?

Would it be better to now start a new thread for say”May birdwatching/Nature meet 2023”

I'd be interested if I can get the time off work. And our campervan is actually built which is more important. We like birds and wildlife photography.

They do some good out of season deals fully booked this weekend not sure if they have a rally field I stayed in winter once plenty of leccy no problem

Oh that really made me chuckle Chas…. 😂🤣 why would it put anyone off…😊😎

We are away in Scotland early May Paul. How many nights were you thinking of doing?
It doesn’t have to be May Steve, early June?

I was going to book a weekish off work maybe a bit more than that.

I think it’s best to her the date/time sorted then decide where.

Any suggestions from anybody about dates?

FRAMPPTON

Frampton Marsh is an amazing site, visited for the first time yesterday. Not many places where you can see 6 raptors in a couple of hours (Hen Harrier, Marsh Harrier, Peregrine, Buzzard, Merlin, Kestrel). Parked overnight the day before at Marsh Road about 4 miles away.

Any of tHe large RSPB sites would be ideal for such a meet up
Leighton Moss has a small CL within walking distance

That sounds ideal so would anyone be up for an early June meet.

Do you know what the CL is called within walking distance?

Yes we would be Paul. My wife still works for the time being so will have to check her holiday book at work to see if it’s available. 👍

Brow Foot Farm. Never stayed there although it is on my list to. Appears to have good reviews on Search For Sites

Brow foot farm is no longer a CL. Couldn’t find it on the CAMC site and there is a not on s for s. Don’t know if ceased trading or turning itself into something else.

Yes, we’d be up for this. Leighton Moss RSPB sie is supposed to be good for murmuations along with Blackpool North pier but happy to come anywhere really. We mainly wild camp but know this is tricky for a meet. Look forward to seeing a definite here.

Am interested depending on where and when
