I've been attempting to get a Occasional use Bip&Drive online, but it seems you have to enter a residents identity number. It's very cheap at 1.99e pm for use in Spain and Portugal, and apparently you can also use it in France. Seems ideal (my Sanef/emovis device is 6 years old and needs renewing, but it's much dearer). Is it not therefore available to foreigners? Does anyone have one?

Are there any other cheap alternatives? There's one called something like AP&P, or Liber-T

Yes it appears that you can only apply with a spanish address & id number. Can't see any other method on there.

Aah, further down it redirects you to a dedicated UK site, which appears to be Emovis, who I'm already with. Will phone them on Monday. Thanks again

Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a way to get a cheap one for Spain at the moment if you've only got a UK address, we looked at it last year. Lots of cheap options for France.
Each time I thought I'd found one it would then take me back to the UK sanef one. Must admit we did get it and were very glad of it especially when it's pouring with rain, snowing and windy.

My present one has lasted 6 years and has been well worth it. But it was a bit iffy last time we used it, had to wave it out of the window on one occasion, so it does need replacing. Thought I could get one on the cheap. Or the other thought that's just occurred to me is to use my son's French address?

We use bip&drive occasional use plan for Spain & Portugal. If you can get one it's highly recommended.

I finally got an answer to my email from Bip&Drive, no chance without a Spanish address. Have a couple of rellies that live there, but I do not want to trouble them.
Spoke to Sanef/Emovis who can help at a cost, so I guess I'll take that, send back the tag I have that's on its last legs, and take out a French Liber-T and a Spanish Via. At a cost, of course.

A few of us have the French one through ATMB which is cheaper than the Sanef version. Mine is linked to my credit card that has no overseas charges and works very well. I think @Riverbankannie has it as well.

OK, I've found a posting on the subject from Keith Chesterfield.

(Posting on purchasing the ATMB tag)
No , I did it with my UK address with no problems at all. The website it really simple and from memory it can be converted to English. All the paperwork arrives in French but was pretty straightforward. I've even had emails telling me I needed to update my credit card as it had expired and I could work it out so I'd be happy to help and there are plenty of people whose French is far better than mine I'm sure if you get stuck.

We love it I'd have to say, use a mix of toll roads and non tolls. I know lots say it's a waste of money but it's my money and my choice!

Yes indeed I do. Only a small charge in any month used. No annual fee.

Does that need a foreign address?
No. I just signed up online and linked my credit card, Santander no charges for euro transactions.
They post the tag and two windscreen clips. I’ve stuck one windscreen clip to the camper and stuck the other to a homemade sucker affair so can use it in our car or lend it to our children for their car to make their trips easier.

It’s easy to log in to my account on the iPad and then you can see the charges listed individually including entry and exit points of the toll sections.

Might be worth checking out APRR . They offer a single tag that covers France,Spain and Portugal for 21 Euros ( 11 Euros to activate and 10 Euros postage to UK). You don't have to pay a deposit ,only pay for the months that you use it and there is no annual fee.

No problem with UK address and you can also use a UK credit card.

For another 4 Euros you can add Italy as well

Damn that does sound good, I obviously missed that one!
I couldn't help myself and clicked on the link and a box comes up which would only aloow French, German or Austrian addresses on my ipad. Whoops, just too hasty.

the site says .....
topEurop France, Spain, Portugal and Italy: € 15 badge activation fee, then € 1.70 / month if circulated in France, € 2.40 / month if circulated in the Iberian zone (Spain and Portugal) and 2 , 40 € / month if circulated in Italy. If the badge is not used, no fee.

Is it a typo?

Which bit ?

It’s 2.40 not 40 per month.
Does APRR work for any van or only if under 3.5 T?

Terms and conditions state Class 2 - up to 3m and 3.5 tones or under.

You might get away with over 3.5 tonnes but as part of the sign up procedure you have to enter your reg number

Patrick

Also for class 1 and 5

The link is on the first line - click on this - APRR
Sorry. I didn't notice that. I have successfully filled in the application form as far as the Payment page, clicked on payment by Visa, hit return and it just bounces back, I don't see why there's a problem. Any ideas what I could be doing wrong? The whole form up to there was OK.

Hi, haven't signed up yet, but just tried the process up to the point of adding a visa card and it comes up with a pop up box. are you set up to block popups ?
