I guess that sprocket missed the induction hardening process, Chinesium in all its glory !

Poor quality control, but if things are built to a price its to be expected.
With the prices on modern Jap big bikes and even then the quality / warranties are nothing like they used to be.

Indeed!
I would expect a duplex chain at least.
I noticed the hooking on the cam sprocket.
