Hi all
Looking for best solution for wife using hairdryer and straighteners whilst wild camping.
I have 130w solar with 200ah gel battery
Never run out of power as only light users on 12v we have everything we need.
Problem is her indoors needs to wash and dry hair every 4/5day
So whats best inverter or quiet small genny.
Whats your experiences please?
Please don't take the thread down the noise and disturbance to neighbours worm hole as would use responsibly
Look forward to your solutions

Me....wild camping=wild hair 🤣🤣
Since arriving in France I have left my hair to go curly and I actually quite like it 😂
Yep that's my usual approach too (though not curly, just messy). But if its warm I mostly don't care. If it's chilly though then I do like to have the option to dry it (very thick hair which takes an age to dry naturally).

I think you meant this in jest, but actually that does work! So does going on a bike ride. Not so great on the styling front mind 😉
Absolutely.
With my folicle challenge , ANY form of styling would be a bonus.
These days I just go to the barbers for a Polish! 😅

That's the thing, why is all the hoo ha about hairdryers, never having used one and two ladies who have never used them, why do some have to have hairdryers,,
Won't hair dry on its own, how did people manage without them?

Anyone tried one of these? USB recharge

Bewinner Professional Cordless Hair Dryer - 3 Speeds & 3 Temp USB Rechargeable Battery Hair Dryers, Portable Hairdryers with Digital Screen for Women Beach Camping https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0D8JQQ1LK?tag=mhf04-21
If she tries it please report back....I'd love to know whether its any good, but I doubt it and don't want to waste my own money to find out

A lot depends on the length and thickness of Mrs gary63's hair . I have recently found this https://www.amazon.co.uk/REVLON-RVHA6017UK-Tangle-Free-Styler/dp/B071D3PJXV/?tag=mhf04-21
My hair is chin length and quite fine and this works brilliantly. Its only 250w on full power and it has an even lower setting. Works well on my hair. I let my hair dry naturally and then use this while its just damp to style it. Love it.
I have one of those and can confirm its no good for chin length+ thick hair. Worked ok-ish when I had it shorter (tho it took forever to get anywhere near dry), but it's just not powerful enough to cope with any volume.

That is not a bad idea as one might think.
If you used the first blown heating vent in the circuit, ie the one closest to the blown air heating fan, it would be the hottest quickest and have more power than the remaining vents in the loop.
Often thought of doing this for myself but as I am folically challenged, it would be a waste of good piping.🤣
Carver before Truma took them over sold a hair dryer that attached to the heater vents.
But what if it's 36ºC?
Stick head out of window. 🤣

It does, but very thick hair can take a good couple of hours to fully dry without assistance, and going out with wet hair isn't pleasant.
Mine seems to dry much nicer here, than if I leave it wet at home 🤷🏽‍♀️
In fact, he who is not permitted to sit in the driver's seat, says it looks better 🤣🤣

Biggest inverter you can run off 200 ah of lead batteries without risking damage to the batteries is 500 watts.

We have 460ah of Lithium a 3000 va inverter, have a have a small hair dryer & a gas hair styler. But 90% of the time wif uses a towel, the most efficient way.

When hair is wet, wrap it in a microfibre towel, absorbs stacks of the wet, then dry with a hair dryer if you have one or leave it to dry naturally.

"Wild camping", "hairdryer", and "straighteners" in the same sentence. The dream rolls on . . . .

Although perfectly doable with sufficiently sized Lifepo4, solar and inverter.
We don't use hair dryers or straighteners but do use an air fryer, pannini maker and microwave.
We don't need to plug into EHU even in UK winter.
We are off tomorrow for 2 weeks on a site and won't be plugged in to EHU and will be fine.

We use a travel hairdryer (800) watts, through a pure sinewave inverter rated at 1500 watts. They are only on fora short while and hardly any use of power.

If you've got blown air heating, stick a pipe on the end of one of the vents, job done. 👩‍🦰 :)
When I first met my wife her hair got wet whe. We were out she jumped in to the car and used the Cortina’s hot air outlet to dry her hair…totally practicle didn’t complain she just did it and I thought ‘she is a Keeper’ so yup blown air is a solution.

When I got this motorhome my girlfriend's hair was nearly down to her bum.
I told her she wouldn't be able to use a hairdryer as we only had 200AH of lead acid and a 300 watt inverter, so as it took forever to dry without she had it cut really short.
Now she could use a hairdryer as we have 230AH of Lifepo4 and a 2,000 watt inverter but it's to late 🤣.
We're still together BTW lol.

Generators are noisy , smelly and heavy. Why would you want one over an inverter ?
Had one years ago, it sits under my bench unused for years
I don't have any experience of either
