Best way to make up a rear bed that is split singles / kingsize

Another thing to consider is the way that any under cushions lift. Some allow the head to be raised and some others allow part to be raised at the lower end to give better access to a wardrobe. I cannot imagine why, but Carthago hinge theirs along the outer wall rather than across the bed. Such things can make it impossible to lift if the base is covered with a continuous sheet.
Yes the bottom third of either side is hinged to allow access to the wardrobe and storage but I’m thinking we’ll just use the doors at the front. However this may change once we start using the thing!

I think you'll find it very difficult to raise the end of the beds as the mattresses etc will be heavy, if I was intending to use them as actual wardrobes I'd be fitting some of the slide out hanging rails like the below (just an example, don't know if the price is good or not!):
