best smart 20" tv for motor home

It wasn't ment to be a definitive answer as a rough rule of thumb streaming uses 1 Gb/ hr. If you can lower the quality the amount of data used will be reduced.
It's just that I watched an F1 race last year and it used up 7 gb and dropped out on the last 3 laps. Aarg! I didn't realise you could reduce the res. but I assume it was 720

I've just bought a sniper 19" led and the picture is brilliant and it's not a smart as I've got firestick which is great

Avtex have just launched their range of "smart" TV's, three sizes I think 24' and 27" but not sure about the smallest one.

Streaming ie firestick usage is approx 1gig/ hour

Thanks Bolti
That would give me two free hours, I am out @ 2gig, that is what I have free, do not want to pay excess.
Ho hum, that is life, and I can live without it, nice luxury to have though, but not that important.

What about Sharp TV’s. They are both SMART and come with 12v supply......

Lol yes just had that when checking the spec. It took about 8 minutes. There’s nothing new in there since Monday so no idea what the hype is for. Ordered my tv Monday and got an email this evening to say it’s on its way.

Sign of the times. I think they’re all trying to order wine!

I would Be interested In a review when you get it.

Yes no problem, though when we will get to use it properly is anyone’s guess. I’ve not had any other 12v tv so have nothing to compare it to but I will certainly test everything possible. I also don’t know if my satellite dish works and where it’s currently parked is behind a big hedge blocking any signal (according to the manual) so reception can’t be tested until I’m out and about ? DVD player will be put through its paces with the kids so I can test picture and sound quality for sure.

I don't like Firesticks much prefer an Android TV box I have one with 64GB of memory. Can download enough to keep us going for a 6 week trip using less than ½ the memory.

on low resolution ie 720, it is more 0.5gb per hour

I use a firestick with extra apps on so get a huge amount of available films and programs FREE

I told my Dad the same. They do sell quickly every time they go on sale. But he's waiting approval from his minister of finances ?
They have a 3 year guarantee, if you don't like it, just take it back to the shop, no brainer really. (y)

Bought one of these two years ago. Brilliant for the price. Sound is a bit tinny so connect a small portable rechargeable speaker. Can't comment on DVD player as use usb stick or hard drive it is able to handle most types of files. Picture quality excellent.

If your tv cupboard is tight have a good look at the dimensions of the tv on the website as they don’t seem correct to me.

Hi Manic, TV arrived today and I have to say I’m very pleased.
Fitted to my current wall mounting bracket, though they supplied very narrow diameter spacer bolts for the one side to account for the DVD player on the other side. I removed them and made my own (nothing flash just washers and a nut ?).

Comes with a 12v 3 pin power adapter as well fag lighter one (no idea of its technical term). it has quite a few different source options, hdmi’s, scart, USB, AVI, VGA and one or two others. The picture quality is excellent, sound is as you’d expect from any flat screen tv but no where near as bad as I was expecting to very happy.
The remote is quite large so not so easy to lose! I’ve managed to find a satellite (not the one I wanted) and tuned in some channels very easily. As far as the tv goes I’m very happy. I intend to get a terrestrial aerial as well and test out Freeview. I will also check how it works with fire stick and google chrome cast. For the money I think it’s fab. 3 year warranty with it too.

I recently purchased one of these and have to say I am struggling with it.
Tried to install mouse toggle but when I get to the install bit a page loads over the install option so unable to access.
How do I access external storage? I can't find a file manager.
And which are the best apps for movies etc (free of course?).

I would suggest taking it slowly, there is a wealth of info on YouTube and the internet generally. I've only had mine two weeks (just bought another for the van from the offer mentioned above) and am no expert.

I don't know anything about a mouse toggle, I'm afraid. I use the built in Alexa, and the FireTV android phone app to speed up the search-with-cursor.

Download these from the Appstore. Just say the words to Alexa, and download

YouTube (worth the price of a [discounted] Firestick 4k alone, imho... can synch your youtube favorites and it offers suggestions based on what you've watched, very user friendly, and I never knew YouTube looked so good on the big screen...
TVPlayer (many, but not all, freeview channels including the Big 5)
SkyNews (live streaming)
Amazon Music (good if you have Amazon Prime, which also gets you loads of "free" movies and series. To cheer me up I've just caught up on two series of The Walking Dead....)
Amazon Photos (see your phone photos on TV)
RadioPlayer
Vimeo
TED TV
File Explorer
Downloader (you will need this for some of the more "funky" stuff)
Total Commander (a file explorer needed for the more "funky" stuff)

Get these up and running, and you will have hours of *clean fun* to start with. Then when you are comfortable with your knowledge of Firestick 4k, time to explore the...

*Funky Stuff*.....nb: I make no comment of the legality or otherwise of using these apps. You will need to Google search how to download and install them, and obtain further information on their status, and the desirability of using a VPN (a system that "cloaks" your true IP address, costing a few pounds a month.) There are posts on this forum by people more knowledgeable than me. Search "firestick", "vpn", etc

Mobdro - (lots of things. And I mean LOTS. Fancy watching Pertwee and Baker Dr. Who? No problem. It's there, streaming 24/7. Along with 300 other channels dedicated to just about any show you can think of. All of the FreeView Channels not included in TVPlayer? No problem. They're there. Many Subscription Channels too... And about 40 movie channels, dedicated to different genres, streaming 24/7. 100 Sports Channels. 80 Music Channels. And more. And MORE. Jeez, there's even webcams from around the world's famous landmarks, so you can check the whole world is still in lockdown 24/7....

Cinema HD v2 - literally thousands of movies and TV shows, boxed sets, etc. In theory... I say, in theory because it works slightly differently to Mobdro. You have to search for a stream... and sometimes there is none available for a movie/show in the truly VAST catalogue. So it can be a bit time-consuming or frustrating if you are searching for the more obscure stuff in the catalogue. Popular/current movies should be a lot more easily available. And the good news is you can DOWNLOAD too...

These are the best I have found so far, after also downloading and ditching a load of dross apps.
That should get you going. I've probably just scratched the surface, and am still a Firestick newbie...

Then there are YouTube videos on how to expand the storage for your downloads, etc, but I am yet to try this...

Also Google search for "firestick tips and tricks", etc to become an expert on this fascinating toy, if that floats your boat... Have Fun !

Thank you GyroPilot for your excellent write up.
Unfortunately I am tiling the kitchen at the moment, but as soon as it's finished I'm ready to tackle the beast.
