Solenoid often the problem if it’s intermittent. An angry whack with a hammer soon teaches the little blighter the error of its ways.
Before you remove anything though I would definitely check ALL the engine earth straps are making good electrical contact with the chassis and engine. Undo them a bit at either end, give them a good wiggle round to clear any crud between earth and chassis/engine and retighten to FT!

I remember changing our starter a few years back on a 2007 ducato. Under £100 exchange. Make friends with a mechanic /garage owner.

Fiat peugeot , citroen are as common as muck so part should be easy to find at sensible price also its used in other vehicles its a generic part , either Bosch, Valao et

plenty new ones on EBAY for less than £100
