Which are the best (cheap) sim cards to get for roaming in Europe at present?

I've used Popit. It's great that you can 'pause' your account and so on. However, they have now restricted roaming on their standard package and the 'roaming only' package isn't exactly cheap...

It depends on what you need, I've got some Lebara 50gb sims which allow 30gb roaming for 49p a month for 7 months.

Not really.

Customers who joined iD on or after 21st June 2023 can use up to 30GB data from their plan while Roaming (each month) in our 50 destinations at no extra cost.

Beg to differ - currently running a 'promotion' ... 🤷‍♂️

Another vote for a Tesco Mobile contract. You can use you data abroad in exactly the same way as the UK and you can add more at UK prices. We have done it many times, never any additional costs or data limits.

Hi Paul,

I have Popit too and it worked very well for me when I went to Spain In February this year. However like you, they now want me to pay £75 for 100 gb whereas I was only previously paying £25 for the same deal .

I have found one on ebay that is a data roaming card that is £30 for 30 days and provides 300 gb. I can renew it at the end of 30 days for another 30 days but then the card cannot be used again.

I have received the card this week and it becomes live as soon as it is activated. I am not going abroad until the 17th January so I have not activated it yet. I really don't know how reliable it will be but I have decided to chance my arm. If it doesn't then I have only lost £30.

If I was you I would scour the internet and you may find a better deal.

Is it this O2 SIM by any chance?

If so, although not mentioned in the advert, O2's Fair use policy normally limits you to 25Gb/mth (as well as 63days in 4 months).

Will watch with interest...

That's referring to a different item from same seller. Unlimited UK, 35Gb Europe.

I don’t mean to be dismissive, but this question is asked probably twice a week. Do a search on roaming SIM… there is a plethora of threads available. ✔️
True but deals are constantly changing so it’s not an unreasonable question to ask.

See my post above . Vodafone Spain 300gb and 1200 minutes. 20 euro on pay as you go. Data and minutes are Europe wide.

I have used a £15 pm ID mobile unlimited sim at home for my home broadband for the last three years with good results and realised that I was on the old contract so also have unlimited roaming which I confirmed with their customer service. So I bought an 8 month data sim with 80gig a month fo £40 so £3.64pm for the home router to run the house while away, solar, heating home automation etc. We have now traversed France to Spain with constant internet from our HUAWEI router (Radio-2), same as at home. Very well pleased. Also streamed UK TV last couple of night with no problems.

Ive just got a Tiekom sim to go into my mifi router, ready for a trip to France,Spain and Portugal in a couple of weeks. Good to deal with as well.
How are you getting on with it now you are away? Assuming you are now! Just looking at what to get for our trip in March now we can no longer use IQ Mobile
