Best campsites for kayaking

Funsters, lots of good stuff re Scottish paddling, I’ve put my two pennethworth in for areas around Plymouth, any bits in between that are close to sites & worth a meet up?
Thanks to Bikevanhappy for posting the link to the canoecampingclub, anyone going to join any of those?
Also, any of you use an inflatable when in the van which is what I use as my other one won’t fit in/on the van?
We have inflatables after using rigids for years. We went for the drop stitch type. So far I've paddled mine twice and Martin has launched his once (plus other Funsters tried them out at Lochore a couple of weekends ago). I found mine much lighter and faster than my older kayaks and also it felt tippier but once you have some forward momentum it's much more stable - and the skeg helps with that as well.

An electric pump for inflation / deflation is a muct as I managed to pull back muscles when using the supplied pump. That should arrive later today and we will see if it works :) Now saving up for one of the motors that attaches in place of the skeg.

Surprised you didn't mention Loch Etive and The Falls of Lora, Andy. :whistle2:

You get to watch The Glencoe Mountain Rescue Team training on The Slabs as well!

Well the north ledaig site is the one that most paddlers use for a trip to the falls..
When I said near oban ii ment nearish:ROFLMAO:
I've done the falls twice on smaller tides..
No place for a touring sea kayak on big springs (y) :ROFLMAO: and I had an instructor ..

New to kayaking but now loving it !! After much research we purchased an ITIWIT 2 person inflatable from Decathlon [low stock had to drive to Teford but worth it !!]; this one has removable drop stitch floor which makes it very rigid and easy to use- and does not have fabric covered inflatable bladders which are difficult to dry. There is another thread somewhere here about kayaks- loads of funsters are very sporty [unlike mygoodself] No way we would have room in van or garage for hard shell [oh look I know a lingo thingo !] or be able to struggle to get it onto roof/bike rack . Sits under the table on route .
Aquaplanet have a sale on at the mo - bought cheapy SUP for grandkids for when they visit - but possibly someone will come along with better advice as I only have experience of inflatable kayaking on the River Avon xxx

More of an idea for the future (what with Covid restrictions etc) but have you ever considered coming to Poland? Kayaking is hugely popular here and there are hundreds of "agro-touristic" campsites (similar to a basic CS/CL) that specialise in kayaking trips. They will pick you up in the morning, take you to a suitable launch site, arrange to pick you up at another point later on, drop you back at the campsite etc etc etc. All for a really reasonable price.

We have a Z pro tango, works well but you do have to take care to dry it out. Taken it all over Europe, Norwegian fjords and lakes particularly good. Not done so much in the UK but enjoyed Bungay Meadows and a little site by Potter Heigham on the broads. We use a Lidl 2 wheeled trolley to get it to the water so even on a large site it's not a problem.
PS hope to get to Poland one day...

Like Kirsten i have other itiwit but the single person one & like Kirsten I had trouble finding one, had to drive from Plymouth to Bromley to get it.
got it wet for 1st time this week & not as tippy as the reviews online suggest, if you want a cheap (ish & relative, obvs) dropstiitch for the van you could do worse, although if you’ve got long legs get the double & sit at the back, very cramped for a 6”2’ bloke

We’ve got a Sevylor Almeda inflatable kayak takes about 10mins to inflate and go.
Comes with a waterproof bag and lives in the shower in the van whilst travelling.

Two sites in fortrose and rosemarkie in the black isle are both on the shore. The area is well known fir the pod of dolphins that inhabit the area. Both sites are just metres away from the water

Shrewsbury show grounds, a lot of funsters here at the moment with kayaks etc. Walking distance to town oh and as cheap as chips!
