Best Camp/Stop-Over for the Pickering NYR station

We're planning a Yorkshire Dales jaunt for September (after the schools go back) and want a trip on the NYR hoping to get on at Pickering. Only need a cheap CC typre stop-over for 2 nights, any recommendations?

You won't go wrong with Gateway To The Moors just six miles to the west at Keldholme.
We've stayed there twice this year and will have no hesitation in staying again when up that way. It is a well kept site with just six pitches, and they face a large field with sheep in. The owner Jayne is lovely.
Current prices with EHU are £18 p/n during the week, £20 on a Friday, and £19 on a Saturday.

If you're planning on freedom camping before or after the two days, we've recently stayed at some great locations up on thr moors.

Not Pickering, but on the same railway line.
We stayed two nights here a fortnight ago, all facilities apart from ehu, easy walk down to the station £13 a night . If you watch heartbeat, it's adensfield.Can well recommend it.

If you just want a simple stop in the middle of Pickering, you can park behind Big Bear Bikes, they charge, I think £12+-, it's 2 minutes walk to the station. Ingledene is decent, small campsite, 5-10 minutes walk to the station, plenty of other campsites around the area.
We had a years pass for the NYM Railways, use to get off at the various stops and do walk to the next station, trains are not so frequent, so we had to plan our journey walk times.
BTW Pickering is North York Moors, not the Dales

We've got our NYR tickets, (Bought a years pass in October last year) But then we had started in Whitby and the schedule had meant not being able to see much of Pickering returning on the same train.

So our jaunt through the Dales starting from Penrith, Lacy's Caves, Dufton Wenslydale Creamery thru Hawes and Jervaulx Abbey etc. We will end up at the RSPB Bempton Cliffs (also not in the Yorkshire Dales).

So a two night stop-over in Pickering would be ideal, Big Bear Bikes or the Recreation Club could be the answer

I’m pleased you’ve got your season ticket, last years deal of £50 each has expired, it’s circa £175 now.
Pickering; I’d recommend Black Swan, White Swan is also good but I thought it was significantly more expensive, best beer Sun Inn, with a large garden.
Some good walks across the moors, the heather is just coming into bloom, if you have a dog be careful of adders, there’s a lot about.
