I would like to add a sound bar to our TV, built in speakers are not good. But I would like a 12 volt sound bar. Has anyone any recommendation please. A web link would be good also

We have one of these Majority atlas they also make this Majority Bowfell
You won’t be disappointed very good for the money.
You both correct, the Majority Atlas has arrived and we are really pleased with the sound and build quality, for what I payed (£24.95) it very good and comes with 3 year warranty.
Just neede to modify the bracket I had made for the old speaker, just cut a hole for the cables, this one cables are central where the old one had cables at the side on the back.

I heard the Avtex and it sounded awful. We don't use the TV bit (everything goes through a Chromecast). So instead we use a Minirig bluetooth speaker connected to the CC. It sounds fantastic and charges via USB-C, though I easily get 8 hours out of it.

The Avtex TV we have is going soon. It's fine, but i'd rather replace it with a 12v monitor which will be a lot thinner (no DVD player) and we don't use the speakers on it, either.

I just found this on AliExpress:
£40.93 | Redragon GS560 Adiemus RGB USB Desktop Soundbar, 2.0 Channel Computer Speaker with Dynamic Lighting Bar Audio-Light Sync/Display
Offered more cheaply on Amazon with increased chances of return. However, this unit is of 10:30 (weds 13th) now on sale at Ali Express for £19:59 Free Shipping, that's half price.

I received an SB195 Avtex Soundbar yesterday and used coax lead supplied to plug into my older non smart Avtex TV. You also receive HDMI lead for Smart TV, audio jack plus all the 12v, 24v leads you wilI ever need plus the additional bonus of a small bracket to attach soundbar to TV. In my opinion it is an excellent bit of kit and a huge upgrade from the standard speakers and well worth the money. Didn't pay full price of £145.00 (paid £128) but it is brand new.

I have the Avtex soundbar as well and an Avtex TV, both expensive but they are built solid and more likely to stand up to the occasional knock when setting up/taking down. The downside, that I found, is that you cannot use the soundbar mounted to the TV if the TV is on the supplied stand. I bought a separate computer monitor stand so that the soundbar can be attached to the TV.
When I asked Avtex why I could not use both together they replied -
'The SB195BT was always designed as a soundbar and not as a replacement for the stand, this tends to be the norm for this type of product, sorry for any type of confusion.
At the moment there are no plans for a compatible stand for this particular combination of products.'

This seems a shame as it would be much slicker if they all connected together.

Thank you, that is the only one that I had seen to be 12Volt. Have you heard it in action?
I bought one at the Motorhome show and have fitted it to our Avtex TV. It has made a big difference to us as I can also play my music through it. My option is it was worth it, others may not agree. Our TV is on a frame attached to the wall not free standing, so it is underneath.

We have a Falcon sound bar, from the NEC, much cheaper than the Avtex (we have an Avtex TV), and are pleased with it.

It is rechargeable via USB, has Bluetooth or a jack socket for wired. I have it because I am a bit deaf and don’t want the next van to be listening to our TV, especially late in the evening 🤪. The only problem is that when you switch it on, it defaults to Bluetooth (which our steam-powered Avtex can’t do) so you pull out the jack plug and put it back in, when it will say “line in”. Only takes a moment.

We had the Avtex soundbar fitted to the Avtex smart TV when we purchased the van. The sounds amazing, we love it. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it, and both the TV and soundbar work of grid.

You can get refurbished one’s on eBay for less than £20 but I bought from Amazon for the free returns policy if the speaker was no good.

Avtex every time for me, I did purchase a cheaper one from eBay but sound quality was very poor. We have 2 in our van one on each tv, I also have one at home in my garden bar for sport and it’s amazing big 👍 for me

We bought one from the electronics store that is often attached to Continente supermarkets in Portugal it uses the headphones jack socket and a USB connection for power and seems to work really well. It was €30.

You can buy Bluetooth adaptors that will plug into an external output and make your TV Bluetooth 'enabled'.

Do what we did - get a Chromecast, add that to a decent bluetooth speaker (recommend the Minirig) and it's superb.

Probably too late but yes I have one and it’s fine for our use, it also pairs with a phone if you want to play music or stream.

Not sure what you listened to but they certainly are not awful.

That may be your opinion, but I have heard one that sounded pretty horrid. Trying to drive deep bass through a 2" speaker is never going to be great. The physics just doesn't allow it.

I have also heard systems that other folk have raved over and found them difficult to listen too.

Hearing is very personal and we should respect all opinions.

I’m contemplating similar when our non-smart and non-Bluetooth Avtex tv is past its best/end of life. We already carry a wi-fi/bluetooth JBL speaker for music outside the van and use a Firestick with the tv which has Bluetooth audio capability…

I agree it is subjective but to say it’s awful is at the far end of a subjective experience. I accept your comment regarding deep base but you’re not buying a boom box…why would you want to drive ‘deep base’ through it?. its a sound bar with reasonable quality output in relation to its size and power.

If you want deep base you don’t want a sound bar you want one of these

I agree its subjective. As that say, one man's food is another man's poison.

I don't need one of those. My Celestion C6's are coping very well with the full spectrum of sound including the bass thank you. I also have two active sub's that I use when on the road.

Good to hear your Celestion's are in good shape, however its a shame that as we age our ears can no longer hear the full spectrum ;)

Again I agree. However I can still hear pink noise at 18kHz which I don't think is bad for my mid 70's. At 19 I could hear 21Khz. Always looked after my hearing much to the annoyance of some musicians who have tried hard to make me as deaf as they are. :(

Just ran up my 50+ years old Leak Stereo 70 and 40+ year-old Celestion 332's for a 30 years-old who was utterly blown away. The C6's are cleaner and driven from dual FMJ (Arcam) amps.

Very Nice stereo and speakers, you are man of good taste, I have some new Rega Kyte and very nice looking and sounding, if you get a chance to have a listen to a pair you may or may not like them but for the price point they are pretty good.

One thing I don't understand is how some HiFi is sooo expensive how about a pair of speakers for £69K or maybe as nice as Linn turntables are £25K I have a Rega P3 @ around £800 wouldn't want to pay much more than that. Of course an upgrade to the Turntable cartridge could be another £15K and of course the must have integrated Amp at £74K (you can find some can cost near £250K) and for those who need a CD player to go with this how about a CD player for £38K oh I nearly forgot £14K for a pair of 5 Mtr speaker cables only £14K I cant help feel at these prices it the kings new clothes and you would have to be an oligarch to purchase these.

You mention Arcam, they have produced some fabulous separates over the years, I started out with an Alpha 3, it was matched with a Marrantz CD52 SE, I also had Royd's but sadly they went in to self destruct I currently have an A5 (A15 and A25 are more than I need) Music is for life, and for a reasonable amount of money there are thank goodness still some great systems out there.

Going back to the sound bar it does what its says on the tin it is not a hifi unit but is far better than the TV speaker output which it is designed to do
