One of my retirement gifts from v generous colleagues was a Belmond Pullman trip from London Victoria down to Brighton and back. It’s been a glorious day, weather good, food wine and service amazing, would thoroughly recommend to everyone as a treat!

Staying at CCC Chertsey, which is really busy ( yes even at these prices!😀), staff as friendly and helpful as ever. The Bridge for lunch tomorrow.

That looks fabulous. We did the Victoria to Bath Pullman several years ago and it was memorable. Enjoy your retirement 👍

Looks like you had a great time on the train. We were lucky enough to ride the Venice Orient express a few years ago for an anniversary treat. Can thoroughly recommend it if you’ve caught the bug for luxury train travel. The train you were on looks to be the one used for the UK leg of the trip out of Victoria.

We are doing the Blue Train between Johannesburg and Cape Town as part of a big South Africa holiday in October, really looking forward to it. Venice Orient is definitely on the to do list!

Wow, brilliant. Johannesburg and Cape Town were part of my work territory (before I retired) and the train journey was one of the many things I regretted not having time for, Cape Town one my of my very favourite places, will be absolutely fabulous, bet you can't wait

Steward. There is a gentleman travelling in the Pullman car without wearing a tie!
There was a real assortment of dressing styles, from full black tie to summer wear! Dress code bans jeans shirts collarless shirts etc.
Patrick our steward was ex BA club class steward, likes the getting home each night.

Like you we absolutely love Cape Town. We are using one of our rollover BA companion vouchers for the flight! We are down to Maketi on safari, then Blue Train, up to the wine district for a few days and finish off in Cape Town, should be amazing.

He should have joined the BEA side of BA - BEA='Back Every Afternoon'. Unless you were on Viscounts and nightstopping in Aberdeen, Inverness, Manchester, Birmingham, London or Guernsey.
