Belgium

I think it was the roads that put me off years ago, rough isn’t the word. Maybe they have changed if anybody can enlighten me ?
No they haven't, at least the ones that we travelled last week hadn't!

However Belgium was not all bad...

https://www.searchforsites.co.uk/marker.php?id=33644 -- good restaurant and brewery plus free overnight parking.

Not far away is the Western end of the Treignes Steam railway where works are. I thing it's OK to overnight there as well.

https://www.searchforsites.co.uk/marker.php?id=31054 -- is the location of the Treignes Steam Museum which has an official Aire with some services.

The Aire in Nismes is also quite useable and in an interesting little town https://www.searchforsites.co.uk/marker.php?id=17981

Chip as in what you put on a butty? now that i would like to see. The other one you can leave it to that clickbait outfit.
Yep chips you eat Bob 👍 It is really interesting and you get free chips at the end. 👍

We pulled into a site in the North East of Belgium and I wondered what we had got ourselves into😳😳a fair few statists and a massive tatty looking shed that was the office, bar, restaurant 😳😳 went around to our pitch then that evening said to Mrs CC we would go to the site restaurant for a meal😳😳
Walked in and by the end of the evening it was the best place we had ever stayed😁the barmaid/cook could not do enough for us the locals kept coming over for a chat and the food was spot on local stuff. Then took about another 45-60 minutes to get back to the van as everyone we walked by wanted to talk.
Cracking site and as a bonus next door was a massive lake so the pups could have a walk around and swim. Funny how you just don’t know what you are going to find. Saying that been to Belgium dozens of times and they are the most friendly people along with the Dutch.
Were they Flemish speakers? Our friends who’ve lived in France for 40 years and worked there are adamant that there’s a huge difference. They reckon the French speakers are on the whole less friendly. They’re obviously fluent. Mark managed an engineering company.

I like the Belgians. Met a couple on the way down through Spain earlier this year who gave us some of their chocolates.

They only spoke in English but I had a very nice Flemish stew at the restaurant that the lady had cooked herself 😋😋😋

Funnily enough I am drinking that as we speak😋😋😋
Someone mentioned they thought i was drinking it in Belgium. No i was drinking the 1664 in one of those Buffalo Wings? places (first time) near The Sure Hotel i was staying in Coquells.
And yes, it was palatable.

Should have taken the van it's a nice country for touring.
Roads are better than they used to be they have been resurfacing a lot of the roads in towns but you have to find them🤣
Been through in the van, didn't stop more than a night i don't think.

What about Waterloo, shouting from the top of the hill about winning always upsets the French visitors (if there are any?) 😄
I once went to a business meeting there. The cafe/bar if I recall is the Green Frog or something like that?

The first time I visited Belgium we "sailed" over on a motor yacht then into the canal system ending up in Ypres, naturally we were flying a Red Ensign so our Nationality was obvious, people were literally stopping and waving giving us a thumbs up etc. I've never felt so welcome, we stopped at a jetty outside a bar which turned out to be the local canoe club, they made us drink copious amounts of beer and brought out plates of cheese and celery salt an absolutely great few days was had. I've been back a couple more times and always had a good time.

Belguim for me has consisted of...
