Becks Motorhomes

Could possibly be extra business caused by Premier at Chichester giving up their Hymer dealershipšŸ¤”

They probably never sold any as they were not interested when ever I went over.
Only use to live about 15 mins from their showroom and use to pop in for a look.
maybe been there about 6-7 times over the last few years and only once did I get a hello from a chap sitting at the desk, always a few blokes at desks though.

I think the op was a bit presumptuous and without verification potentially harmful on a forum such as this stating that Becks have ceased trading.
Having looked again at their website it clearly states that ā€œe mails will be answered on their return to workā€ , screenshot below which leads one to believe they will be trading following lockdown.

Service side used to be good until they all left to start Reliance.

Are you sure ?

Hymer still list Premier as one of their UK dealers on their website
and Premier still list Hymers on their website
Yes they told me when I tried to book a damp check this year after trying to book me in for November they then tell me they could not do it as they were no longer a Hymer dealership.so buggered me up to get one done anywhere else this year.šŸ™„

Anybody know what happens to outstanding warranty repairs, I guess I need to contact Burstner & ask

Strange times.

We collected our new Sunlight in September, with the manager there saying they canā€™t keep up with demand (both new and used MHā€™s and Caravans). Its been a bumper sales year, with the obvious knock on effect of extra servicing, accessory sales etc.

These businesses that are going under must have been in trouble for sometime, otherwise the ā€˜bumperā€™ sales of this year would have carried them through.

Or is this an over simplistic view?

I did wonder with the total lack of motorhomes in the yard if the bailiffs may have been in.

If they actually own the whole site I expect to see a planning application shortly for housing.

Quite a large site in middle of village , valuable building land and bear in mind following the boom in mhome sales this year it can only go down when normality returns.
A good time to get out ?

Sent a message to Burstner in Germany asking who will cover the warranty claim now.
My local Burstner dealer previously didnā€™t want to know when I asked if they could do a yearly damp check as I didnā€™t purchase the MH from them.
Iā€™ll update when/if I hear back from Germany

Perhaps just a co-incidence, but the last "Mr Beck" resigned his directorship last year, thus ending the family connection.
The business is/was now wholly owned by the Maitland family.

I wonder if this has anything to do with the closure - the noticed didn't say administration.
Perhaps there were always other plans afoot.

Mr Beck lived in house next door on the left as you enter the site and possibly still owned by him/his family , could be his withdrawal that has forced the closure.

Didn't his Daughter and Son in law take over?

One wonders if the Maitlands "only" owned the business and the Becks owned the land ......

Very sad situation but I'm sure they have good reason for their decision, I think everyone that worked there were family related. šŸ¤”

When I posted on a thread a while back, about European motorhomes not being sold in the UK next year, šŸ˜‰ that was a joke and I didn't really hear it. šŸ˜ Bob

We had some small parts on order under warranty that were due to be fitted on 24 Nov, but the appointment was cancelled due to lockdown. I have emailed them to ask if the parts are still there for collection, but I don't really expect a reply.:(

So how many Hymer dealers have we left in the U.K. Tyne Valley no longer sell them but will cover existing customers for warranty and services, Kimberley no longer sell them we are fast approaching a monopoly to the detriment of Hymer

Just googled becks and there is a company announcement saying they ceased trading from the 1st of December. All staff have been made redundant. Anyone needing help, contact their motorhome suppliers such as Adria, Hymer etc.

That is a shame, as Becks were very local to me, only cycled by the yard a few days ago, looks like I may well arrange my yearly Hymer checks around a trip to Belgium/Germany.

Are the Maitland family a motorhome dealer?

Their recent accounts look quite healthy to me as Becks Garage ltd looks like Mr Beck died recently. So I dont know if they have gone bust or just ceased trading

Sadly I fear the big players who look for quick profits may be squeezing out the ones who know what customer service means.

Good to hear having purchased a new Hymer from Becks in September 2019.
To be candid, I think Iā€™d rather go to Southdowns from where we are situated, fingers crossed they will be prepared to take on warranty work if necessary.

Becks ceased trading as of yesterday, notice on their website. Very sad for their staff who have all been made redundant.
