Does anyone know if the use of gas bbqs is allowed at the camping carpark sites in france ?

I used 11 sites this year a mix of new sites ,camping mon village and some ex campsites . it does vary and BBQ's were used. We used our Cadac on a fair few sites (mainly the ex campsites and camping mon village) as did the French . One thing i did see a was the French took no notice of the no trailers allowed sign.
trailers are allowed

all the camping car parks we visited in May did not allow BBQ's, apparently none of them allow you to use a BBQ that being gas or otherwise, no idea why that is but few people were not taking any notice as usual.

See post#24 from Tribute615 and the ones following. If the CCP location has the Article 6 on the drop down menu then it appears that the prohibition only applies to BBQs with ‘open fires’ - wood, charcoal, etc.

Same here with the reply to my email to CCP HQ. Probably easier for the humans to just say ‘no’ than to actually look it up?

As I’m sat on one as I type, I’ve just emailed them for a definitive answer.
Watch this space :pop:
So, finally they answered ……….

Dear Customer,

Thank you for contacting the customer service of CAMPING-CAR PARK.
It is forbidden to use BBQ on the site.
Concerning tables and chairs, it is not allowed either if you are not staying at a Camping de mon Village.

I hope I have answered your question.

Best regards,

Same answer I received, people do not follow the guidelines though as we saw a few using gas bbq's.

I think the old threads and discussion on what constitutes a BBQ should be reviewed and added to this thread as appropriate :pop:

Cannot see how this would make a difference. I specifically asked about gas bbq and was told that's it's not allowed. How people bend the rules is of course up to those people.
I cannot see why its not allowed, I can understand the old bbq's with charcoal etc but not the gas ones. Still I suppose all can be dangerous in the wrong hands.

But it would be so much fun to see the arguments resurface as to whether a BBQ is a BBQ ....

I'd call a gas BBQ like a Cadac, a gas cooker.
If they permit tent camping, then by default they permit a gas powered Cadac.
As you can not cook inside a tent.

However if its a car park type aire and no tent camping permitted, or outside tables and chairs, then it's not unreasonable also exclude outside cooking, on any device.
