Does anyone know if the use of gas bbqs is allowed at the camping carpark sites in france ?

Correction - bbq not permitted - each site will tell you what is allowed in the legend - sorry for my error

I would say it varies. The one I have been on had trees hedges between spaces and I cannot imagine anyone objecting. As ever, be considerate and make a judgement as to whether it would bother anyone.

They do vary, information on each site tells you what is permitted and what isn't.
I think the fire risk is a big consideration especially for drout affected areas.

Table and chairs out isn't normally a problem on CCP, offen the parking is marked out leaving plenty of space for them.

I asked the question directly to CCP HQ as the ‘No BBQ’ symbol attached to many of their sites doesn’t make it clear if it only relates to charcoal BBQs or not - I specifically asked for clarification about using enclosed LPG cookers or even single gas rings for heating a kettle etc. The answer was that they include any and all outside cooking in the prohibition.

Never had a problem with putting out tables and chairs or deploying the wind out awning at any of their locations though.

We used a Weber Go Anywhere gas barbie in several aires and two CCP aires.. just as many others were doing.. no problems

Royan also has picnic tables and grassy seating areas behind many of the pitches, as does CCP aire at St.Vincent-sur-Jard.

I think common sense should dictate.. if the vans are close together , a fire risk, or no space to sit, I wouldn't use....

French hate rules...

We use the Campibg Car Parks a lot. Always put our chairs out. We normally stay in ones that have marked bays. Everyone else gets their chairs out as well.

Just had a look at a few from their site and it appears to be a general “no”. The site will let you know.

As I’m sat on one as I type, I’ve just emailed them for a definitive answer.

Be interesting to see if it’s different from the one I received as per post #10.

There's one thing which relies on YOUR own decision, supposedly ...wise! If you're not on tarmac but next to dry bushes/trees, and it's summer , high temperatures, whatever the sign says, and of course precisely if it says yes you can use your BBQ, your brain MUST say NO.
Enough fires, enough dead people, enough houses and people's life destroyed.

Just saying!

Well here at Saint Flour, Les Orgues in the Auvergne sitting outside and outside cooking on gas/electric appliances is the thing. Well it was until Autumn arrived about an hour ago, which has also cancelled our outside gas cooking.

I used 11 sites this year a mix of new sites ,camping mon village and some ex campsites . it does vary and BBQ's were used. We used our Cadac on a fair few sites (mainly the ex campsites and camping mon village) as did the French . One thing i did see a was the French took no notice of the no trailers allowed sign.

Where are the ‘Articles’ from please? I can’t locate them on the CCP website.

Thanks for that. Strangely it doesn’t appear if I access the site(s) details via the CCP app on my iPhone, but it’s there if I go on their website!

Despite the reply I had from CCP HQ to the contrary it does appear to indicate that LPG BBQ’s are permitted - game on!

Another CCP rule is dogs on leads. Some guy just set up a few feet from me and let his dogs loose, which tried to get into my MH. I was moving on anyway but invoked the rules with CCP and they let me out without charging for the stay. They took the guys registration number and said they would follow it up, reg number are not linked to cards so I guess that means a visit from the ambassador.

The areas are divided into two classifications:

  • parking
  • camping
Depending on this classification it is authorized or not.

Find the information regulating the use of barbecues or garden furniture by reading the charter located at the entrance to each of our areas.

If in doubt, you can contact the customer service.
