Cab battery seems to struggling a bit tends to drop to 12.4 quickly.

I want to take off battery and try to put it on smart charger repair function.

Because van is split charge from solar do I need to disconnect solar input?

Cheers

You shouldn’t. Do you have a voltage sensing relay fo your leisure battery from your vehicle? If you did, that would send charge to leisure once over the activation voltage. Solar duo charge shouldn’t feed back to controller. What sort of controller do you have?

I would cover the solar panels before disconnecting the battery as you may have some charge going in to it depending on the light intensity. The correct order for reconnecting is battery first then solar panels. If you can charge the battery on-site, that would be my choice.

Assuming your starter battery is OK, and as you have solar, you could fit a Vanbitz Battery Master.
It trickle charges the starter battery from the leisure battery when it senses a difference of 0.8v.
It's only the size of a cigarette packet, only 3 wires, and is about 60-£65.
Available from this forum, Vanbitz or Off Grid Power Solutions on here.

I don't think there's any need to disconnect the inputs to the solar controller, if you are only disconnecting the cab battery trickle-charge feed from the solar controller. Just wrap a bit of tape round the end of the wire so it doesn't short to anything.
