Bash in hymer table

You don't ask much do you !

A joke about a Hymer table damaged by a book.

Ah yes. Maybe the book was the Koran.
Oh dear Brian. You muchas disappointass me.

"My wife dropped her favourite book onto our Hymer table. Smashed a hole into it. It was entitled 'Forty Years of Failed Diets'. Weighs about ten kilos".(y)

See, easy. :)

Thanks all, Brian I did try a search but couldn't find anything relevant, perhaps my typical user error issues. Just as well because this has been a most amusing thread.

Here are some pics of the damage.

I think we've had a change of forum software since and maybe old threads went missing.

That looks more like a brick damage than a book. It must have been one hell of a book if it was one.

Plan B make a feature of it, cut a circle and inlay some nice brass or suchlike.

Had a similar problem. A cup fell from an over head cupboard and damaged our work top. Fixed ours using a hard wax laminate floor repair kit. Colours can be mixed to get a match and even graining effect or pattern can be achieved.
Try searching for 'Quick Step' laminate repair kit.
We now use a piece of vinyl flooring to protect the work top and table.

Looking at that, I think your best option is going to be the company that @rosierose suggested.
You are going to have to cut away the damaged area and fill it back up, and then re-cover it. A DIY repair would be quite obvious.

Thank's for the photo Dawn, It makes sense now. I reckon that you've brought Carols old Hymer. Looks like thats where her heal went through the table when she was dancing on it. May as well leave it, by the time you girls have been round there partying and "breaking" the new van in it will look much worse and you can then just buy a complete table. @Carol

You maybe right Daniel, I think it's too big for our limited DIY skills. I'll send them the pictures for a quote and let you all know how much.

The other option would be to replace the whole table top.

Ha, ha Paul, well it's certainly big enough for fun and games.

I didn't know you'd changed your van! What have you got?

Morning, a Hymer B660 SL , so pleased with it, partly being in yours helped with our decision, so thanks for showing us around. We left Jim's and starting looking as soon as we found internet signal

There are pictures on a thread somewhere "goodbye old friend".

Been thinking about a new table for our van - although swmbo prefers the open plan look.
These guys have some very nice ones -

Thanks Dave, we'd come across them, they do look well made and nice, just the sort of table to place a gin and tonic on! Not sure what it would look like in Hym, perhaps a shade too gin palace?

Nah - u can never be too classy!

Mate of mine has one of those tables in his Burstner delfin - looks very nice.

The fine black lines are in fact thin rubber strips which effectively 'grip' whatever's on the table - nice.

Thought you were on the wagon. ;)

Our hymer table has suffered some damage (previous owner said a book fell on it)

Anyone know if these laminate particleboard tables can be repaired?

Where could I get a replacement.

It's in an awkward place in terms of sticking a placemat or coaster on top etc.
We had the same thing on our Hymer table. We lived with it and learned to love it. It became part of the family. Especially when we found out the price to replace it. Could have bought a new van.

You could try moving the pen a little to the left over the hole and supergluing it to the table?
Just a thought. :imoutahere:

Seriously ... When we've been looking in secondhand motorhomes in the past we have often seen damage repair to tables. We always keep heavy items lower down and keep light packets etc up top.
