In 2016 we found ourselves in the village of Banon in Provence, France. We headed for the aire and were surprised to find it full but there was another area close by where one or two MHs were parked so we joined them.

After a while more MHs arrived and we were soon surrounded with no hope of escape! A quick chat with someone revealed that the following day was a Fête du Fromage or cheese festival which turned out to be a very enjoyable day.

The 31st Fête is being held Sunday 19 May 2025 and we plan to be there, probably arriving on the 17th to make sure of a place. There is also a campsite within walking distance of the village which we might use depending how we feel when we arrive. :)

If you're in Provence at this time I recommend giving Banon a visit - but arrive early!

The aire over-spill area before another dozen or so MHs arrived. We were in the far corner but fortunately we were in no rush to leave.

Banon is where we first heard of tartiflette which we've subsequently made ourselves and enjoy but we didn't try it at the festival. If this crew are here again we will give it a try for lunch. :)

I have been to a few of these "local" festivals. The closes to me is the Fete de Framboise (Raspberry festival) at Conceze. It is reputed to have an entry in the Guinness Book of Records for the largest raspberry tart in the world at 3m diameter. Pre-covid, we helped to load raspberries on to their bases, taking the whole of the Saturday morning.

Sounds like a great plan, I'm looking forward to following your trip
