Awnings and Wind

I’m looking for a front tie down for our Fiamma, does something attach into the front of the awning, a bit of metal, which the strap then connects to?
I have used and sold these for over 10 years. Our awning stays out at shows for days on end.

Do those aluminium bottom brackets fit the Fiamma legs?

I should have bought them at the Harrogate show when you were there😬

Whichever way you tie down your awning to secure it, my experience is if the wind gets up, it can still damage some part of it, even rip the fabric. If going out just store it away for peace of mind, it doesn’t take long. This is from someone who has lost two, don’t be lazy. Remember it’s a sun awning no more than that.

On Broom Edge Farm CL outside Northwich last week when a motorhome owner had left his sun shade / awning out with no storm straps. A gust of wind blew it over the vehicle and, in his absence, we couldn’t free it without damage so left it. When he returned he removed a central pole and pulled it back over. He then said “don’t worry, it always does that”. I didn’t comment.

Flappy awning update...

I got a Fiamma Magic Rafter Pro a few weeks ago. That's the one that goes along the length of the van and braces the two arms. I also have a Fiamma Rafter, which is the one that goes sideways out from the van to push the canopy out.

I've used it over a long weekend in Derbyshire, and a week in Norfolk. Normally I'd be winding the canopy in and out every day and whenever we left the van. This time I left it out all the time. Norfolk was on the coast. Maximum wind speed was about 20mph, but it was quite gusty. I had no issues. The flapping and the creaking has gone. The only downside to the Magic Rafter is it takes a few minutes to put on, and it's a pain to store if you don't have a garage.

I've also got the tie-downs on the front. Yes, I'm not sure if the Rafter is also necessary? I had the cats with me, so I had the awning set up with all the windblockers and a skirt along the bottom. I really didn't want to take it all down if it started to get breezy, so I added all the bits I could! It wasn't exactly extreme conditions, but it seemed to work pretty well.
