Is this a normal thing to have to do. whilst I admit to have fingers like thumbs, not one person I have asked to try has been able to grip the nipple in the hab area to unlock the door. The passenger door one is not much better but at least you can get either side of it so it is workable.
It was bad enough that the initial solution was to keep a pair of needle nose pliers near the door.
Hab door finger drill and thread a cable tie through has solved the problem. The passenger one seems to be lined with tungsten so have not done that one and wouldnt have put a loop on either.
Is this just one of those things that everyone knows on hymers just like the centre vents and mirrors on VW T4s

Can you use the remote to unlock the doors?

We only use the hab door anyway , so not an issue for us and Mercedes have different locks

It is a Merc - no central locking

Your not supposed to be able to grab it that's how crims get in

Agreed, that is why I said that I would not put a loop on the passenger door one as there is a window there. It doesnt overly concern me as I dont feel the need to lock the doors when I am inside.
However if you were of the persuasion of locking the doors and the cab filled with smoke, I am sure it would be quite comforting to be able to lift it and exit the vehicle. I am pretty confident I could exit through any wall if the need were great enough.

Long time
Our, old Hymer’s hab door is just open it from inside and the pin pops up, maybe yours is missing something internally or has a broken spring!

possibly but strange that is both doors. Also have memory of being trapped in a Merc in Austria that I couldnt get out of as the handles didnt unlock the deadlocks.

That's worrying . A fire could disable electric locking.
But the plastic windows are easy enough to open with a good kick

I think the lack of central locking might be the problem, amazed that it doesn’t have it

Was it normal on 2003 models, I know my 2003 VW has it but certainly wasnt standard
