Availability of Propane gas

a refillable system is the way to go , then you can top up at many LPG outlets across Europe
Unfortunately after a 11 month stint out we have noticed a lot of garages in Europe are refusing campers to fill up even with underslung tanks saying it’s a fire hazard.
Both us and friends who have gone through other countries opposite to us have been finding the same issue.

We must have been lucky. Only topped up twice but no hassle we were loaned an adapter and our filler is in the locker

thats not my experience, I’ve filled recently this year both in Spain and France at Motorway services without issue
and in Germany and Belgium in 2022 .
trying to buy a different bottle in european countries and changing to a different gas cylinder connector every time is more hassle than it’s worth

Italy doesn't like motorhomes using car LPG filling points... for tax reasons rather than safety.

Tell me, if I buy refillable bottles can these be refilled in Europe with Propane gas. If I have to use a different gas like butane, do I not have to make changes to the oven, hob, heater and Fridge? To burn Butane instead of propane??
I used a full bottle of camping gaz whilst in France (expensive , I know). Just switched from propane to butane with no problems.
Rightly or wrongly, I didn't notice any difference in the flame or anything.

It’s auto gas it’s lpg on forecourts in uk or GPL in France just need adapters for europe and it’s cheaper gas than the bottles filled up a little while ago 20lts @ 79.9 per lt £15.80

All leisure vehicles should have a 30mb regulator. Regulators and appliances will work on propane or butane. The only difference so far as a user is concerned is that butane won’t work at low temps.
