Autotrail or Auto-Sleeper, what would you buy?

Will probably end up going for the FB due to the massive storage!

we have had two autotrails as we like a rear lounge - first one was older and built like a tank and solid - current one is 2017 and very bling, but sooo heavy .. in a few weeks we are chopping it for a 2016 autosleeper winchcombe - always wanted a merc .. the auto sleeper has a better quality feel to it - just that bit better quality we feel.

Hi I have a auto-sleeper 2018Burford with a Mercedes cab with auto,Iam looking at a Autotrail tracker auto 2019.what does forum think on what is the better make etc.i hope you can help me make my mind up.
Regards Mark.
On our second Autotrail Tracker EKS.
Loads of space for visitors (had 10 in) and lounging,
Fabulous king-size bed. We opted for the 2 berth (more storage)
6.4 mtr and 3.5 ton max.
Sensible money.
HIGHLY recommend..

Dealer is the critical factor.
We had a window seal leak (fried by Greek sun). Changed under warranty.
Space was our aim, especially in hot climates where we go.
Second hand high teens would be my advice, cheaper, better build quality, snags already sorted.
The minute you step in you feel if it’s good one or not.
Don’t know your age but staying under 3.5 tonnes and 6.5mtr gives you great flexibility and less restrictions on where you can go.
Very best of luck.

Never had an autotrail , i have had 2 autosleepers but on pvc conversions. The autosleeper was well built.

Mum and dad had both brands on coach-built vans and both had damp issues.

Personally wouldn't touch a british van these days.

I had a Swift Kon tiki 1991 year. It was brilliant and at over 30 years old it is still on the road. That had the one piece glass fibre roof that you could hold a party on, built like a ships deck.
I think the lesson is it's OK to buy British if its old enough.

Our 2020 Compass (Elddis) Avantgarde 196 was OK with no damp but a few niggling QA issues. It's disappointing to hear that so many makes have so many poor quality issues across the board.

We bought our auto trial new from Spinney great service lovely staff now in its sixth with van a few minor problems always sorted by Spnney no hesitation about buying another from the same dealer

I really feel for you, we had the same with a swift caravan... but my comment was based around your statement that you would rather have coronavirus. i'm sure the unfortunate people who have died of the virus would rather have a leaky autotrail and their life. ;)
Including those who came out of the other end, but with long term issues, poor choice of analagy !!

Well I bought a new Auto-Trail from Spinney and had a terrible experience, all the warranty work they carried out failed after only a few month. They refused to do again saying once it's be done they don't do again.
Even contacted one of the directors who offered to repair the area pictured below as a good will gesture!.
Well you can see from the pictures it didn't last.
