Autotrail Email Confusion

That's a real mixture of unfortunate issues, its a shame a dealer cannot fix some first time around, and why so many lights have failed , had there been an electrical surge ?

People asked for the list now no replies ! Come on reply he has kept his end of the deal speak up .
We are just taking time to respond that is all.....He gave a response at 9.42pm yesterday and then 39 mis ago..............Take time and just chill .......it will come

im seriously considering that option cazpaul. surely not much else to go wrong ? but I will take a massive hit on the price I will get for it

What poor sod is going to end up with it if sold. Problems just moving on.

But you could use that analogy for any possession you own, its terrible, poor quality, catalogue of problems but im going to keep it because some poor sod might end with up.

Just looking at the list of faults ....2,3,4 are externally supplied and fitted for auto trail by the supplier.( Check your paperwork it will tell you the serial number and manufacturer)
5...Is there a 4th hole or not. Just to determine if it actually had one fitted, then you could blame the supplier or even the manufacturer of the table. ( and No its not Auto Trail ...Its built for the Motorhome market and distributed to various dealers of Motor homes . The detail (Table top Colour/finish ) is added when its going to Swift or Auto Trail etc
6...Tv bracket...You say fell apart? The Bracket or the bracket on the tv?
7...Water tank (Waste) What part was split? You say its been sorted?
8...Glass lid ...Cooker lid? ......If so...Cooker supplier issue. Flying off? Slow down when cornering!
9....Faulty part ....replaced ? Sorted then?
10...Hab door lock....Is it possible you have tried to open it at the same time you have pressed the Central Locking button to open it and thus...caused the said problem ? I ask because I have done exactly the same thing . If you pre empt the pull action at the same time you press the button to unlock it...you can cause the door lock to fail! You have no choice but to remove the door lock internally and reset it simples!
11..12..13.. 16...Leisure battery replaced 19 clock fault ....Just a thought here but...Number 17...seems to be common amongst that list of faults would you think?

With all that in mind.......Seriously......The damp issue with the Auto Trail has always been a problem...Im guessing that you did your homework first and read up on the problems it had before you purchased it? Therefore you new what to check surely?
As you have stated...all has been done and by the time the charging issue is sorted it will all be done ..Yes?
I think some one has already mentioned that the contract is with the supplier of the motor home (Dealership) and not with Auto-Trail ?

Personally....Yes I would have accepted it and just told them to get on with it. Job done. It sounds like the issue is more to do with the dealer who sold it to you rather than Auto-Trail.
As regards the brakes.........Squealing? How long had it sat on the forecourt? Drive with the foot on the brake for a short distance...it will go. Other than that...Get the dealer to take the wheels off and put some grease on the back of the pads...It will stop the squealing.

Oh .........and the wire basket in the bathroom.....if it's the one in the cupboard below the sink? ...Then mine too has no screws holding it in place either ...No need for them. If you can get some in then it may be only two that can fit?
Just try getting to the pipes underneath it with the basket screwed up...Its a bugger!

It's just a personal view entirely.....

I ended up with a list of 19 items that needed attention after my first major trip in T-REX (Autotrail Delaware HB 2019). Most of them were fixed just after the last lockdown with the exception of the front Skylight, which took ages to come from Autotrail but will be replaced when I can get to the dealer (the first appointment is 30th Nov Covid permitting). A couple of other issues have come up since (hab door flew open on a French motorway after the dealer fitted new locks and mechanism - spent last two weeks of the trip with the door tied closed!) including the Sargent tracking system replaced just before we left. Even more, small items have needed fixing during our recent trip (including the basket under the bathroom sink), but where I can do it myself I will!

I have to say even with the frustration of the problems and the back-and-forth to the dealers' Tyne Valley Motorhomes have been very fair and supportive. There are a number of deficiencies in this van - and had I known I would not have bought this model - but to be honest we love what this van has allowed us to do and many of the 'niggles' are worth sorting ourselves to achieve the van we really want. That said I have my fingers and toes crossed ;-)

Best of luck with getting yours finally sorted to your own standard.

Autotrail Tracker EKS owner here.
Bought from Simpsons of Gt Yarmouth 2014.
Had an issue with 1 side window, rainwater being blown past rubber in a Gale in 2016.
Window renewed under warranty, the other side done at the same time, under warranty.
ALL vans have problems ! !
It is the DEALERS that are the problem ! !
Tired of seeing Autotrail being pilloried.
Mitch. ( Happy owner. )

, I think the number of faults is the issue , I accept and expected some but never anticipated no where near this many it’s spinning me out now , when will it be finally be all sorted
NOTE TO SELF BUY ONE A COUPLE OF YEARS OLD NEXT TIME

Yep, I think we all agree with you there.

It's not just the faults that matter but the emotional 'buy-in' that goes with parting with a whole load of your cash, i.e.for a dream that turns out to be anything but good.

We're having the same issue with our new-to-us narrowboat inasmuch as the broker sold a perfect dream while the surveyor then came back to us stating that it's a piece of crap. We rejected it though.

Faults aside, it's the emotional bit that gets you down - we know that from this bloody boat buying nightmare.

I know it's easier said than done but keep your chin up and I hope things resolve themselves soon.

You'll need to give the dealer a chance to repair the bits at this stage of ownership (I think!!).

However, I do know of a guy who rejected his Apache 634 at the 24-month point but there were set parameters affiliated to the process.

As the story goes his Apache 634 recorded damp readings of 80% and 90% to its sides and the garage area during the first year hab check. The van then went back to Grimsby for its repairs and all was fixed - or so he thought.

The van then went for its 2nd hab check and where the damp readings to the 'previously repaired' areas were recorded as 90% and 100%, i.e. worse than before.

He was able to reject the van based on the fact that the major repairs had failed a year later so "not fit for the purpose they were intended" etc.

There's a lady called Vicky on the Autotrail Unhappy Owners Club and she has helped quite a few people reject their new Autotrail vans - drop her a note and see what she recommends.
