Got a question reference the roof on my 2014 autotrail

I've been up today to look at the roof again as it seems the aluminium roof isn't bonded to the roof and is all bumpy and lumpy, is it meant to be like this or is there issue.

I did have a rear roof light that was leaking when I brought it but when I took it out there wasnt any rot and I used bedding tapeand sealed and it's been fine since, have also replaced the middle one for a maxxair fan and same there and no issues.

Damp reading of around 8-12 all over the roof and I spent about 3hours sealing all the joints today as the weather was OK

Any thoughts???

Did the factory tour a few years ago and at that time it was not a bonded construction roof, they seem to use loads of mastic though in various places.
Never did fancy buying one after that visit.

I got it for a very good price on a 2014 plate with a huge 6k miles on it about two years again

Couldn't really say no and the dealer fixed all the bits that I found wrong and since its done more miles it drives so much better

Just got to sort the cambelt now as its over due since the last one

we are still learning
2014 Autotrail is not a aluminium roof. Its a bonded pvc type resin on a ply inner board. If its the face lift version of the Autotrail 700 ask for Tonka on here ....He has had one for ages.
Mine is a Delaware and basically the same outer coating on a bonded ply inner. They do...show signs of lifting away from the board . Its not a problem. Something you can live with...

I do have admit that it's been fine even when I was in Middlesbrough the other day for two weeks in the wind, rain and yes lots of snow.

Hopefully it will stay good 🤞🏼

My 2012 700 certainly had a floating GRP roof. Never had an issue, bonded solar panels to it etc.
It was further down the body, mainly where the sides met the floor that gave all the annual damp issues. 🙄😁👍..

Floating roofs are normally GRP and bonded roofs aluminium. Very old vans had an aluminium skin roof with battens supporting it.
