We have been asked to join our Grandaughter and boyfriend over the 3- 4 days of Christmas. We are now looking for camp site or somewhere SAFE to stay over the 3-4 days of Christmas . They live in a place called Ashton in Makerfield, which is near Manchester. Would love to hear from you if know of any where in that area where we could stay.

I live not a million miles from there, but I’m struggling to think of anywhere “safe” or a campsite within easy travelling distance over Christmas, unless you want to travel in the van. There’s some pub stops over at Pennington Flash, which is nice, near Wigan which might be ok, but you’d need to drive.

How close to them do you need to be. Will u be driving over to them in the mh each day

Think you may have to drive from wherever you pitch up, we're visiting 3 sisters race track end of October but staying at Overwater Marina and hiring a car. Burrs Country Park another option but you will need to drive. From what I've researched for our trip, driving to AinM is required. Good luck.

CAMC campsite at Southport is much nearer than Burrs Country Park - about 45 minutes away.
The site is excellent. Less than a mile from a Morrisons and lots of eateries.
Ashton-in-Makerfield is midway between Manchester and Liverpool just off the M6.

Not too far away at J27

I live in Ashton in Makerfield. There is a great little place about 10 minute drive away. It overlooks the lake. Is in the car park of a bar cafe that never gets full. The security is good as the owner locks the gates late at night. There is electric hook up and toilets. Charge £15. I've spoke to the owner and she's asked me to advise her on how she can improve the area and promote it, will do that when I return from Spain in November. She doesn't respond to emails but I'd give her a call. Here's link.

Hi Parrot Face, just phoned TheDam Bar & Grill and there seems to be some confusion. A young lady answered and she told me “we are NOT a camp site and you cannot stay?

This might be worth following up. It is about 15 mins away. No website so you will have to look at reviews here

Don't understand that. I spoke to the owner. Just a few weeks ago and she pointed to the area for motor homes. There was even a Motorhome parked there and plugged into electric. Walked past it several times and seen up to 8 campers and Motorhome parked there. There's another pub a few hundred yards away but if you used the link I sent I doubt if you got it mixed up. The owner was really keen for me to promote it although when I asked the young girl about it, before I spoke to owner she looked puzzled. If you can sit on it for a few weeks I could check with owner mid November.

Is it the one you stopped at in July?

You could always try bridge farm

Ive got secure gated parking at my industrial units at wa9 4tr, which is why I asked if you were driving to the relations each day etc.

Another funster has used it in the past, could even let you plug in if you have a 3 pin to commando adapter.
Closed over crimbo so will be quiet in the courtyard in the middle
