We are taking Barcelona to Civitaveccia ferry arriving at 1am.
Does anyone have experience of somewhere to stop nearby for a few hours sleep?
Thanks

We stopped on a car park/ sosta thing probably circa 2017 after a similar late arrival. It was about 30mins south on the coast by an old castle, well more a tower. I will see if I can find it.

Link broken, but wherever it is, I'd get at least out of the city itself, certainly nowhere within 20 mins of the port.
It depends if you are going north or south on arrival

If going north, this place could be a start.
Going south you have a lot less options as two main roads and development all the way to Rome

Tam fixed his alternator there, he knows the surroundings well.

Thanks. I can't make link work at all.

Tam? For reasons best known to him I am not privy to any of his posts on here😉.
Thanks anyway

🤔 Pretty sure Tam was in Greece and Civitaveccia is the port for Rome.

We took Grimaldi from Barcelona to Civitaveccia arriving at 1am.
We found out you can ask for a ' late check out' at no cost, when buying your ticket or when booking in, which we did.
We stayed until 7.30 am ,slept well, went to the motorhome which was the only vehicle on board and drove straight off . Happy days

Not been to Civitaveccia by van but I have been on a cruise that started there.

There is a railway station within sight of the port.
From memory there was a car park/forecourt to the station that, again from memory, should be able to accommodate you, especially at that time of night.
