Hi, does anyone know if the connections are different between Flo Gas and Calor Gas propane bottles please? Thanks

To add to your thinking, the flogas website shows 10kg Gaslight bottles

These are much lighter than the steel Calor bottles, but are they user refillable with LPG? LPG is so much cheaper than calor.

Safefill do user refillable lightweight 11kg LPG gas bottles but you would need the check the height. Surely they will fit in an Adria Supersonic 890?
They also use industry standard POL fittings.

Can they go upwards from the bottle up to a higher level then back down to the regulator so that oils don’t flow directly downhill to the regulator?

That is, like an upside down letter U
I would say no, because you want any oily residues to run back to the bottle to avoid clogging the regulator.

Thank you I will look into this. To be honest the cabinet on the 890 is not very big, I was surprised and it clearly states 11kg max

Great thank you. I have 2 x 6kg calor propane but my new motorhome will take 2 x 11kg, which calor don't make!! Would prefer to have 22kg rather than 12kg but wanted to check I could connect them. Cheers
When did Calor stop doing 11kg bottles? They're still on the Calor Website and my Builder Merchant still had them last time I went in (Early December).

I agree with Lenny HB . I was told the residues will collect at the low point in the pipe and when the pipe is full they get pushed in the direction of the regulator by the gas flow. The filters allow the residue to settle in the bowl leaving room for the gas to flow above the oils.

Hi. I called them today and they don't do anymore, they did not say when they stopped.

You want either the 6 or 13kg Propane bottles, thats the usual sizes that fit in a motorhome gas locker.

I would test fit the 11kg at a friendly Flo depot (they exist unlike Calor!) - We thought about doing 11kg but found on our Bailey locker the 11kg bottles upper flange protection didn't give enough room to allow easy removal of gas bottle. We know we can fit 11kg Gaslow as several Bailey owners have had it done (mentioned on here), but the flogas bottles didn't fit as well in our locker due to the higher protection at bottom at top of bottle. If you compare a gaslow to a Flo bottle you'll see what we mean! (Should also say with a Gaslow system we wouldn't be pulling bottles in and out so the tightness of fit is less of an issue).

We at moment have one Flo and one Calor 6kg bottle to allow us to deal with any "individual supplier" issues. TBH as I posted on here yesterday it appears locally at least the Calor shortage has "gone" this winter, as bottles are available locally at least for both trivally, and much as it pains me to say, a Calor refill at 6kg level is £4 cheaper at present.

Great info thanks, I did think about a test fit, will be calling local supplier tomorrow. Thanks

No, No, No, the bulkhead regulator MUST be above the bottles.

I must admit I had no idea about this. When I bought my van it had one 6kg Calor. Now it has an 11kg Gaslow. I honestly have no idea whether is is higher/same/lower but it's been ok for over 2 years. I must check but that would mean moving the van as the gas locker is against the fence!!

All fitted and well happy. Got a refund on old calor 6kg bottles. 11kg Flogas was £4 more than a 6kg calor, no brainer
Wierdly locally theres about a £10 difference between 6kg calor £28 and 11kg Flo at £38 on my last prices from the flogas distrbutor.

I wish the 11kg Flo's fit in our Bailey, but they don't due to the collar on the bottles we fit as mentioned, as economically the flogas bottles are just over half the price per kilo. I think even Europe (in winter) would be a possibility for a week or two with 2 11kg botttles, making a refillable system even less economic than now!

Same. I often have one of each on board, depending on what I can find.
I'd caveat that Flo gas Gaslight type plastic bottles do have a different regulator to the old BP ones (which used a POL connector) to my understanding at least. Don't go thinking all Flo propane bottle types are same regulator as both the 13kg (leisure) bottles and the gaslights use the 27mm clip on regulator connection instead of a POL.

The steel bottles are however in propane the same as Calor so no issues for majority of us. Be warned of the carry handle/flange at top and bottom of the bottle also being a bit larger than some euro-bottles, which explains why a Bailey 11kg locker won't fit a Flo 11kg bottle (well).

POL to clip on adapters are available.

They do, or at least did until recently. I have an 11kg cylinder in my garage at this moment (empty, sadly), having moved on to Gaslow refillables.
