Apple Pay?

I would not be able send them a cheque don’t have any.
I could transfer them money.

Your not going to tell us you do not have a quill...or slide rule or abacus

Been using it since it was first made available in the UK in about 2015, so nearly a decade ago.
I amazed the local publican by being the first person to pay using a mobile phone.
He had no idea it was possible.

I can go months in-between visits to the ATM, and nearly always that is because I'm using a local tradesman who will do me a better deal for cash.

I only ever take a wallet with me incase I need backup, which oddly I had to use last week, for probably the first time in a year, when the card machine failed at a local trade supplier.

As far as I'm concerned any business that says 'cash preferred' is liable to be trying to defraud HMRC.

Those that say 'cash only' are not likely to get me as a customer, and I presume are laundering cash and avoiding HMRC.

We had a local 'cash only' fish & chip shop.
HMRC visited one day. It closed that night. A 6 figure fine.
They had to sell the shop.

Does anyone know if you still accumulate Tesco points if you use Apple Pay with your Tesco CC in the wallet?

Ian

Always been a strong advocate of google pay and not used cash or cards much for several years now but yesterday i lost my phone in Thailand. It's a nightmare. Cannot access any of my banks, or my email. Fortunatly my wife is more careful so we have access to funds but i just spent half the night on the hotel reception phone ringing the bank of every card i can remember i have on google pay and those that i have downloaded apps for.

One thing i have learned is to bring a second device with you, tablet/computer, as accessing google on a new device is impossible without a your phone. I didnt for the first time this trip. Currently on my wifes tablet but I will have no access to email or whatsapp/sms for another week. Could be an interesting experiment.

P.s. why does my wifes tabl3t not dod predicitve tex5, punctiua5ion, etc!!!!!!

Having your cake and eating it there aren't you?

you can keep it in your wallet, but still need to scan the Tesco club card at checkout . to get your points ...
or
do as I do, use the hand held shopping scanner, that registers your club card

I’ve always assumed you do but if I’m in Tescos paying I scan the Tescos phone app as well . If you pay by card they do it twice.

maybe I've misunderstood... is CC the Tesco Club Card or Credit Card ..?

I assume you can track and wipe a google phone remotely as per an iPhone?

Yes , if you set it up correctly and have working wifi and data. Not for me sadly.

Ooh now, I think of CC as my Tesco credit card and when I said my phone I meant I scan the Club card app first and then pay with Apple Pay. So I’m using my phone twice.

I use Google Wallet, most of my cards on on it plus Nectar card, airline boarding passes, train tickets.

Been in Spain a week only spent €1 in cash.

Fair enough, but I can't help but wonder just how hard was it for you to pay the old fashioned way?:giggle:
short arms deep pockets makes getting at the cash hard, my mates normally tip me upside down to get the coins out of my pockets

If the old fashioned way is cards, then I no longer need to carry a wallet bulging with bank and other cards, spoiling my trouser line. 👍😀.

I think there are still members who take the cow on a halter to barter for produce.

('Livestock Only' is the slightly older version of 'Cash Only')

In Todays Telegraph:
An “error” in an overnight software update has left Sainsbury’s unable to take contactless payments in stores or fulfil online food orders. Tesco said it had been forced to cancel a “small proportion” of deliveries because of a “technical issue”.

Just thought I'd throw this into the mix.

it was only contactless payments that were affected ,..

It says "all stores remain open, and that chip-and-pin and cash payments are working as normal."

That would include phones, surely.

Also:
It followed a similar issue at McDonald’s which brought the fast food chain to a standstill on Friday.

There's a lot of it about.

yes.. includes phones.. but not chip and pin..

I guess it's prudent to carry a 'back-up card' if you need cash or there is problem with Apple / Google Pay system.. but in 8 or more years using Apple Pay I have never had an issue
