AP-7 Toll Charges

Has anyone driven into Spain from France around Le Perthus on the A9/AP-7 recently. Are they still waving the toll charge or have they started charging again.

No the AP7 is Free all the way to Benidorm has been for a couple of years - Most AutoPisa are now AutoVia and therefore free

Autovias are not Toll roads they are classed as fast dual carriageway...Autopistas are Toll Roads, most of these that have paid their way we're, as you rightly wrote, made free a few years back....However it looks likely that a return to paying Tolls on Autopistas and other classes of road is proposed...perhaps starting in 2024....

As said by jumar they are proposing to reintroduce tolls on all the old Autopistes + add all the existing Autovias.That was the last proposal due to be intoduced before covid struck & put off

Must be using a different system for paying if they are re-introducing tolls because they have demolished most pay booths/machines on motorway exits. BUSBY.

Been driving down the AP7 for the last few weeks, and as mentioned all the tolls have been demolished and removed.

Yes I've seen this myself, how the way the New Toll System will work is yet to be announced....I rather hope when it's introduced that it's similar to Austria, Switzerland etc using an annual vignette, which would be greatly discounted for Spanish Resident Tax payers....

They may do what their neighbours do in Portugal and have overhead gantries needing toll tags or number plate recognition.

They may indeed, however word is the system may extend to a greater number of roads that in the past have never been toll payable..
We will see, it's there to generate a boost to the economy...
