Anyone used 12v tyre inflator on Air awning? (27 Viewers)

I have been considering a 12v tyre inflator (twin cylinder jobbie like this)

For inflating my awning (and tyres/Motorbike/pedal etc) i was wondering if anyone has used anything like this and was it a waste of time or did it work?

These ones are allegedly 150psi with duty cycle of about 12 mins and 40L per min.

We use a Ryobi which has tyre outlet on one side and low pressure air bed on other, you don’t need much pressure and think you could easily damage the awning with too much pressure

Our hand stirrup pump is also more than adequate and doesn’t need many pumps

Yes, it will work for tyres. Don't expect it to be quick or quiet though!

I've no experience with awnings but DavidG58's comments re: pressure ring true with me.

Waaaaay over the top for an Awning!
That is what may be needed for a Tour de France road bike or a Velodrome track bike.

The air pressure in an inflatable Tent/Awning is about 7-10 PSI.
A pump such as the one above will burst the tent.

If you can't be bothered with manual pumps, then you need a pump suitable for SUP's and other inflatable boats which typically only inflate to about 15 PSI maximum.

It will do the job - eventually. It is designed as high pressure / low flow rate. For inflating awnings / airbeds / boats you need the exact opposite.

I second the motion.

Here's the older one. They split the newer ones to high pressure and low pressure variants.

I think t would take hours to inflate an awning. As tonyidle says you need a lower pressure/higher volume pump. That's why the Dometic ones are so expensive

I used one of the small ones you get with cars nowadays and it only took a few minutes to pump a friends caravan air awning up.

You only need to pump to 9psi for an air awning
