Just started!
My motorhome hasn't had a wash in 6 months - it's filthy!
Just wondering if any one has used a Snow Foam lance to clean their Motorhome and what were the results? What foam solution did you use?

Once all that grime was cleaned off Martin, (with the aid of an old toothbrush for difficult areas ;) ), the lovely shine you left up there, was restored a treat. ;)

I am really struggling to keep a shine on the GRP front cap though, despite paying some "so called" specialist valet to restore, wax, and ceramic coat it.
Whilst I appreciate the sun's degrading effects on the GRP gel coat, it's only just over 6 x months since being done, and already the shiny lustre has disappeared. :(

Cheers,

Jock. :(
I only machine polished the front once Jock but I did regularly give it a going over with Autoglym Super Resin.

Agreed Paul, but although I do use a snow foam solution from a spray bottle, then agitated with a brush, I'm not humping the pressure washer up there. ;)
Note the blue applicator for getting under the solar panels. ;)

Absolutely. 👍 Ours was washed 3 x times whilst away over winter, but not the roof, which got done as soon as we came home. ;)

Cheers,

Jock. :)

Nice one.

Where did you get the blue thing from for doing under your solar panels 🤔

Dunelm. JML do one as well.

I wet under the panels, wet the wand, then spray it with TFR if the area under the panel is bad. If not bad, then just shampoo or snow foam solution.
It is surprising the amount of sh1te that builds up under those panels. :(

Cheers,

Jock. :)

This is what I use.

Light power wash to get the van wet then a good splosh of snow foam through the gun.
Leave it on for 10-15 mins then power wash down.
Next I put the polar wash in and give it a good coating of that, then a bit in a big bucket of water and wash the van with extended noodle mop.
After another power wash off give it a go with polar seal and once the water runs off I give it a going over with a drying towel on the end of an extend pole.
Hard work but it comes up lovely, well for a while at least😁

My experience is the only way to get road film off a vehicle/windows etc is to use a sponge/brush etc. Cold water rinse to remove loose grit/dirt, cover with your choice of whatever miracle cleaner you have bought if you wish, then wash with a good quality sponge/brush and wax shampoo. Rinse off again!!!

I use Fewnicks black streak remover, Auto Glym's Polar blast, Polar Wash & Polar Seal and a bit of Silky on the joins.

I use snow foam. Only the Halfords one though devil or whatever it's called, not special motorhome one,

I give the van a gentle pressure wash, then apply through the pressure washer with a special thingy...

Get the long brush out, give it a scrub with that...

gentle pressure wash to get it all off.. seems to work just fine.

Don't forget the roof though, otherwise you are waiting your time, be careful up there but keep applying clean water with a hose and give it a brush until all the debris underneath solar and sattellite panels has gone.

btw..

You should be sent to prison for ill treatment of a Motorhome!!! 6 months!!! 6 whole months!!!! if I go 6 weeks I think I'm being cruel to mine. Even cleaned it when I arrived in resort at skiing this year.
Lol you sound like me, after every trip, i return unload next day go to down scrubbing and cleaning everywhere.

On my previous Motorhome I used the snow foam gun without anything in the container to wet the van first as it’s a lot lower pressure , then snow foam it , use a soft mop on an extendable pole to agitate the foam and then rinse off again with the empty snow foam gun. No high pressure on the joints or issues with sealant areas. Having said all that I have a PVC now so first rinse is with the normal pressure washer lance , the rest I do the same.

I have learnt a lot from a You tuner called John on the Forensic detailing Chanel. There is a lot more to snow foam washing than meets the eye. John rigorously tested different snow foam lances and pre wash products. Once you understand how snow foams work you’ll have a lot more luck / better results. A pre wash snow foam like Bilt Hambet softens and loosens about 90% of the grime but allows you to remove it without scratching the surface. Sone need to pressure washed off others cope with a standard hose pipe. Once the pre wash “ Touchless “ has been removed then you move in with a “ contact “ wash mit and a decent auto wash shampoo like autoglym polar wash. Apply it with your snow gun then use your Long pole and wash mit or caravan brush. This will get the last 10% grime off. After hiding that off you can use a water repelling product of which there are hundreds. I believe Autoglym make the Polar Seal but you really have to use them carefully and follow the manufacturer s instructions. I believe less is more in sone cases just follow instructions. I am going to apply a ceramic coat to mine in the summer once I have thoroughly cleaned the whole exterior. Again look at what John says on his Chanel. Yes I know he is referring to the specialist topic of car detailing but I would have thought if it’s good enough for your cats paintwork !!!!!

ProtectionAutoglym Rapid Ceramic 3 month’s protection after you’ve taken the shine off the roof cleaning it to death. My Hymer 7m 2 panels dish and Perspex galore, 1.5 bottles, every 3 months. Hope that helps

Forty years or so ago we used a snow foam type kit to wash helicopters, worked well. Then some bright manager decided to send it up to the north sea oil rigs to wash the helos there. Did not work so well in the constant thirty mph wind on the helideck.

Yes. As KPM says use the right one for the right job and use it right ,,it is great.

My van was polished and sealed just before our Easter trip and the only bit I had to wash by hand today was thee wheels and front with fly splats. Rest just ran off with rinsing after snow foam.

Should say at the minute the van
Is sealed with AutoGlym Extra Gloss Protection, 2 layers as I like how it looks with white paint.

Then using AutoGlym shampoo and their snow foam currently but normally use bilt hambler snow foam or Auto Brite one depending on what is on special 🤣

+1 for Bilt Hamber and the technique.

A mess!

After hours of elbow grease over 3 days!!

When I purchased the van the roof was in a mess (see previous photo) as was the outside generally. To 'break the back' of cleaning it I took it to a car cleaning company and told that under no circumstances was a power washer to be used. I walked a couple of miles to home and back with our dog Alfie and when I arrived back to the van, guess what I saw - 3 blokes on the roof of the van and two with power washers!!!! I went Ape. I should have known better.

The layer of rubberised sealant was coming off in sheets! They proudly held up pieces of it to show me! Well, ever since we've had a small leak and now I have some ultra sticky tape:

and a 5Kg tin of Cromapol, I hopefully will complete the job tomorrow :)
