Afternoon all,
Just wondering if anyone has taken their MH to Glastonbury in the last few years?
I have never been -though always fancied it but all the mud and tents just put me off.
Now I have the MH I'm thinking that it might be an option if I can wrangle some tickets.
I know there is a field for MHs but wondering if anyone has booked it and if so whether you would go back?
Still just pondering the idea -and practicalities. I know tickets are hard to get etc.
But if anyone has been in the ticket mosh pit and knows the process for getting a MH booking after getting tickets, it would be
great to hear your insights. 👍

I’ve been twice and would go again if the wife was up for it
Says it’s too crowded for her
It’s not if you want to go it’s if you can get tickets
You have to pre register too
Get main tickets then try for Motorhome ones later
Enjoy if you go
Yes tickets seem to be a lottery and thanks for the info re pre registration.
I'd probably not be fussed if I hadn't been before -but its just one of those things I'd like to tick off -esp given the prospect of some level of relative comfort/privacy. thanks again for the feedback (y)

Friends of mine go most years in their LWB Crafter based MH. They went again this year, and they love it.
Other folk in our owner's group took their LWB VW Transporter campervan this year. They said they were near entrance C, and a "short walk in Glastonbury terms" to the stages. They also said they'd had a great time.

Too big an event for me. In the photos I saw of the VW pitched up there, space looked extremely tight and I would have been concerned on safety grounds as well as not liking to be parked up cheek by jowl when away. But those I know who go have all said it's fantastic, and the vans make it a nicer experience especially if the weather is iffy.

Thanks for this and good tip re the location -if I do get tickets that might be a good place to aim for. Yes it might well be a bit claustrophobic in the parking -but less so than the tent arrangements by the photos I've seen -way to cosy for me never mind trying to navigate your way back in the dark!

Tickets £375 inc. tent camping. Motorhome an EXTRA £300

I'm doing latitude this year - only £85 for a 8m motorhome.

FEC were you lucky getting tickets?
Hi Birdy67 -In the end we decided to leave it this year as we weren't convinced our 13 yr old wanted to go -and it would be a lot of money and travelling to make a mistake (and taking him out of school🙃 ) -so we didn't end up in the ticket mosh pit when it came to the crunch. We are thinking to try again in a few years when we are travelling sans child. Did you try to get tickets? If so hope you bagged a few 👍👍

Yes we got tickets this year. It'll be my first time back for 10 years and on the two previous occasions we hired a MH, so this one will be our first taking our own MH with us. For anyone interested the Campervan field tickets go on sale tomorrow at midday. I don't expect them to last long!

Good luck Birdy 67 with sale tomorrow .
We have not been lucky last 2 years [heartbreaking ! as we have been going with with family since my daughter was younger than grandkids are now. ]Hate the process of getting tickets ; and if we dont- we cant get resale tickets as there are 6 of us; and the camper van tickets will be long gone. But consoling self with my observation that in recent times it has been getting too crowded and too many acts /too many genres to please . I think you will find a big change in the ambience - buy hope that you can still enjoy it . The Hill of Death is getting steeper each year tho ! xx

Congrats Birdy67 in bagging the tickets and best of luck in the sale for van pitches today -hope all devices are charged and ready! Bad luck Kirsten. Getting tickets does seem to be a bit like doing the lottery these days. We might consider Latitude in the future or the Y Not festival which is much smaller but very close to where we live and gets some decent acts. Have a brilliant time in late June next year Birdy67

Thanks FEC

I managed to get a campervan field ticket for the Bristol & West Showground which is 5 minutes off site. Never stayed there before so if anyone has any experience of what it's like I'd be keen to hear your opinion?

Hi Birdy67
Not stayed there but picked grandkids up from there when we got to main site earlier than school would release them ! It seems well run, clean - good pitches etc - talking to people who have camped there they liked it - free shuttle bus onto the hallowed fields Only downside is that we saw was people had to take days provisions with them as a bit haphazard re getting back and forth , tho to be honest to was a killer going back to moho up the hill if we needed anything in the day . Have a great time !!

I'm pleased we got a ticket but feel a bit torn as to whether it's a good or bad thing that we missed out on the East Campervan Field. You're right, the walk back to East has always been looooong and making sure you had everything with you was imperative so at least we won't have to contend with that. I just hope that the B&W Showground has the same festival feel to it even though we're a couple of miles away from the festival proper.

We got tickets but the motorhome tickets were more difficult than the actual entry tickets, 2 hours in a queue yesterday and could only get B&W.

Cannot wait as it's my favourite place on the planet. I'll be in a tent all week onsite but the missus will be creeping back to the motorhome for a shower daily.

We went two years ago, the weather was good so no mud. It was well organised. Would go again. 2026 is a fallow year so will have to be 2027 if we can get the tickets. It was great to sit outside the motorhome watching the endless streams of people lugging tents and trolleys with a beer in the hand. Using the motorhome is the only way to go

We took our m/h this year and in 2019. Once you have run the gauntlet of obtaining tickets in November, you have to wait until they announce the date for applying for a M/h pitch (approx £200) There are 3 huge fields for caravans & M/h depending on what day you arrive, will be between 5-20 min walk from the main entrance to your pitch. Our last 2 visits have been dry and sunny so fortunately no mud. If you are going with friends with a m/h, you need to arrive together, as you are ushered into lines with 3-4 m spacing like an overflow car park.
Arrive with a full tank of water as you may be sited quite a walk to the nearest tap. 👍

Thanks for the responses so far.

I'll keep an eye on the advice here -leaning esp towards the practical advice side of things rather than why folks don't like it.

Thanks as ever for your wise counsel -much appreciated. 👏👍
Sorry I can't speak from personal experience (except as the recipient of some mud that my son kindly brought home in various parts of the family car) but my other 'advice' is that life is not endless but your 'shall I, shan't I?' will be until you just do.
If it's not great you can just not go again.

Yeah I’ve been a couple of times in the MH, last year and before. Me field is ok, not muddy (weather dependent), empty your toilet in the big containers provided, big pitches. Biggest pain is that MH field is outside main gate and every morning you have to get through security again as if it’s your first day, which can take a while.
