I have a small 2 berth, 6 metre Eldiss Accordo 120 and would like to take out the bathroom, change to a compost toilet, personilise the area, save a bit of space and make better use of the area. Do you think its possible? Has anyone done it before? Would it affect the selling price of the van?

Any advice would be appreciated, thanks, Karen

Alternative view as I know a few people who removed cassette toilet and fitted a separator ( correct name for it ) toilet in its place .

One on a 2011 hymer van and the other on vw karmann.

The hymer had a completely renovated bathroom with glass bowl sink and renewed cabinets. Few other mods on that van but it sold for a lot more than he paid for it.

There are many who would prefer a separator toilet just possibly not on this forum .

Have a look on the likes of quirky campers and you will rarely find a cassette toilet. They're old technology and used as designed they've limited capacity and limited disposal other than campsites.

If a separator suits you then do what you want to the van. If done correctly there's no absolute given that it would lose any value.

I've messed with every motorhome I've owned and sold everyone for more than it cost me.

However if you mess with it and make an arse of it you'll be losing money.

A sog makes no difference to the capacity of a cassette toilet it just gives people outside the unpleasant odour rather than you inside.

Also depends on your reason for changing the toilet. There are other ways to increase capacity if that's what's required

Before and after, the very high Thetford replaced by a low Trelino with storage underneath for toilet rolls and poo bags. More floor space and super easy to lift out for cleaning.

Having looked at the Trelino website, my first thought was . My second, in the nicest possible way, was . If it suits you, fine, but I would imagine that there would be a pretty limited market for a van that is fitted with one.

Maybe if you were tent camping and had a separate loo tent and wanted convenient waste disposal options. But in a motorhome where the no 2 compartment remains open to the air and where you sprinkle sawdust to suppress smells through eventual desiccation? Where you have no flush function?

(And what happens here is obviously not 'composting'. Given the time periods involved, nothing turns into anything else. It's just kitty litter for people.)

Maybe the incinerator toilet would be an (expensive) option though I'm also not sure how keen people would be to be parked up next to a faecal crematorium.

Gotta say that’s not a good look, I take it you carefully dismantled and kept the Thetford to put back in if you sell..?

Actually, to be fair, I think the look is fine. It's the product itself that I would be more concerned about. But I think it will affect resale options and so keeping the Thetford for potential reinstallation is probably a good idea.

Not much to say on toilets other than tend to dispose of pee daily in seperate containers and only use the toilet for serious business - get a lot more time between emptying. We have a PVC and the "wetroom" could have been designed a lot better so I went a bit mad on the 3D printing front and pretty much everything you can see below has been printed. I used IKEA Tisken suction pads, downloaded the attachment from thingiverse and designed around that for some of the stuff. Other stuff is screwed into the walls directly and yes my choice of color is horrendous and I must reprint at some stage. The shelves to the right of the doorway are brilliant and I don't understand why Autocruise/Swift did not add storage in here for pence!! It means the shower area is a lot more functional for us.

If you're talking about the orange shelf colour it's not horrendous, I really like it, it adds a nice bright contrast to a drab washroom, I'd go further and get/make some other accessories to match.

You can't beat a bit of 3D printing, great work.
We have phone holders, USB outlets and ethernet ports that fit in C-Line fittings, shower pole support posts, awning handle stowage, EHU stowage to name a few 3D printed parts.

SOG are about £175 at the moment 😳 No need for chemicals at all. I made my own at zero cost some 15 plus years ago, simply took me around 4 months to gather the bits needed.😁😉

I think I'd rather pay £175

I was determined to see if I could make one FOC - I had everything in place within two days but had to wait for my mate to take a bath 🛁 out to get the required overflow pipe 😉 Already had micro switch and 3 inch computer fan / wires then got a 4 ins plastic back box with a blanking plate off another mate to house carbon filter 👍 At that time I could buy a bath overflow pipe for about £3 😁
