Getting Better
Out on my wheelchair e-trike today and it broke, it’s like it’s only running on two cylinders… it was going fine until this happened. I accelerate and it vibrates ferociously speeds up for a few seconds then cuts out, I can then instantly accelerate again and the same thing, by doing this I got back to the van thankfully.
The hub was quite warm to touch when normally cold so there’s resistance somewhere. On the clock you can see that the watts jump up and cut out..

I don’t know what I’m going to do without this as it gives me a lot of freedom, I’m in the Algarve at the mo but moving on to Spain (Gibraltar) tomorrow…

As above, check the electrical connections to see if anything is loose.
It’s definitely electrical rather than mechanical but I can’t be any more help than that I’m afraid.
What brand is the motor & controller?

Won’t be able to check for a while as will be travelling for a couple of days and getting it of the bike rack is a pain… but I’ll check the wire as there is an awful lot..😩

I’ll also keep an eye out for a e-bike shop and see if they can do anything…

My wife's email.bike was stuck on full power one year. Not a clue but I pulled a couple of connections apart and one was wet.Sprayed with wd40 put it back and it was perfect..BUSBY.

I’ve no idea, it’s a bit of a mishmash…

The bike is a reconfigured Da Vinci bike that isn’t made anymore but the people who reconfigured it is Team Hybrid bur again it’s an old one and they don’t do them anymore…

A new version of something similar is around £5000 so this will be the end of my riding days..😩😭

It’s all easy to replace . You wouldn’t struggle to replace that hub motor wheel . What size is it and what is your battery voltage ?I think you have a 500w hub and 36v battery .
I just got a 14inch 2000w 48v hub for £200 . Let me know and I will get you a price . I think Lenny HB is correct. I didn’t watch the video you posted before but it does sound like the motor is done. Magnets sound shot .

The most expensive parts are the battery , hub motor and controller. I’ve attached a picture of the hall and phase wire colours( your connectors may be different and the white wire may not be needed) . It’s 9 wires in total .
Please don’t panic about the repair cost . It’s either the hub motor or controller. I have spare controller I can post out to you if that’s the problem . Will make sure we get this sorted out buddy 👍

That’s very kind, I’ll be a few days until I can get to look at it…👍🏼🍻

Definitely echo what the others are saying. It’s very easy to replace the motor: tyre off, swap to new wheel, connect and go! You have quite a beefy looking motor there, but I’m sure eBay or Amazon will be able to deliver you a replacement.

Alternatively, give Andy at Wooshbikes a call. He will sort you out.

Using eBikes like we both do, keeping contacts clean is a must... Contact cleaner is used between all detachable joints...paying special attention to the contact between the battery and the wiring harness..
This would be my first attempt to find the problem

If you are in vila real de santo antonio, there is a good bike shop near the Intermarche, at the edge of the industrial estate, they put a new rim on my ebike hub earlier this year,
They might be able to have a look.i will be there in a while, if you need a hand?

Just smiffy We are just down the coast to you at Altura. Moving to Spain today or tomorrow. If you want to swing by on your way, Colin will take a look at it. If nothing else he might be able to isolate what's wrong.

I was going to Gibraltar today so would have past you both but not leaving until tomorrow now, if you could let me know if your about pm tomorrow I’d be grateful….

Thank you for your help..🍻

If a fault can be found Colin should find it 👍

Went to a e-bike repair shop today and they said the hub has definitely gone…☹️ they’ve given me a place where they might be able to replace it, they reckon around €3-500….🤬☹️

Will drive there in the next few days its about 40mins away and let them have a look..

Although it sounds a lot of money to repair, the freedom it gives you is priceless and cheaper than a new one. Good luck 👍
