Anyone In Spain on NLV/TIE using an International Driving License?

Something like 1100€ for both of us, including a personal rep at TIE application and collection, and Padron. I did not have to think about it, just concentrate on the snagging of the house reform! Also there was a big error on Sally's TIE that made her male! Picked up before we got off the chair but button already pressed. Complete application had to be cancelled. Took 2 days and Upsticks handled it all and got another hens teeth appointment to in effect do it all again. In my eyes worth every euro. They knew the system, what to expect, how to tackle the inevitable errors. Sure we would have got there in the end, but .....
Thanks sooo much, money well spent. Will hopefully be doing it later next year as for now just "Schengen shuffling"

SO!

Where are you up-to?

I was just reading the rules regarding leaving Spain.

From what I have read, you can only be out of the Country for 10 months in 5 years?.

We got out TIE on 5th Feb and stayed until 30th June, then popped back to UK for 4 weeks. We are now back at home in Spain. In this 1st year we will not exceed 2 months out of country/eu
The NLV annual minimum of 6 months has just been put into question by the Spanish supreme Court rejecting it. However as you rightly point out there is this 10 month 5 year rule to get permanent residence after 5 years. I understand that they will give you another 2 year extension if you have breached the 10 months, but if you could achieve 14 months out of 7 years. If you follow. What happens if that is an impossibility I don't know. Most of the web sites do not even mention the 10 month 5 year thing.
We will see how we go. One thing I have yet to find out is what happens if I fly from Spain to Italy, do I get stamped in and out of Spain, or what. All a bit muddy, until of course you accidentally breach a rule you never knew existed!
So far so good, back for August which so far is manageable with the new AC set at about 24/25
Days getting shorter and restaurants not overrun.

Just been considering residency here in Spain. Talking to one of the Lawyers we use here. He said the problem we may face at the moment is, we cannot exchange our UK License for a Spanish one, common know problem.

He said, UK citizens he is dealing with residency for, are using an international drivers license

Back to the original comment Trevor. That was my understanding following Brexit, and there were lots of problems to reaching a replacement agreement, but I was under the impression that now you can exchange like before. Fairly recently I think but the Embassy had lots of input in to negotiations so they will know for sure, it’s only what I’ve been reading over the Spanish news this past year+

Would anyone mind sharing what you found to be the biggest pros and cons with moving to Spain? It's something that's been in the back of my mind for a while

Pros:

Climate
Culture
Better Law and order (there can be a bad side to that too)
People
The Coast
The Mountains
Lower cost of living
Ease of travel through a lot of Europe and few ferries to pay for.
Cheap Flights from Most Parts of the Country into Europe

Downsides Some only Since Brexit:

Higher Taxation
Requirement to have Spanish Health Insurance
Limited time allowed to stay of Spain for 1st 5 years
Bureaucracy and Red Tape
The Manana Attitude

Other Things:

A good command of the language and grammar is a bonus. Otherwise, get to know people who are Fluent Spanish Speakers or Native Spanish People with a good command of English.

I will keep thinking !
