Just wondering who else on here might be waiting for a new Murvi. In my case, this will be my first Murvi and I am full of eager anticipation.

I’m interested to know what you have ordered, why that specific model, and when you placed your order. I’ll kick off!

Placed my order in May 2022 for a Ford based automatic Morello with a 170bhp engine in Limited spec with a few other goodies. I went for a fairly high spec as I am hoping this van will be a keeper.

I decided on a Ford as, for me, it was a nicer vehicle to drive than the Fiat. And a Morello for its big ‘L’ shaped sofa and feeling of space in the lounge area. I agonised over the rear storage that comes with a Pimento XL but concluded that the larger lounge was more relevant for me.

Unfortunately, my order is showing no sign of materialising yet (the order is still to be confirmed by Ford!) which is a shame as I didn’t think the Transit was suffering from the same delays as the Fiat. I suspect that the high spec is something to do with it, but I’m hoping it will show up at some point soon so I can start making new memories!

Anyhow, that’s me - looking forward to hearing how others are faring with their orders.

Be patient Jason, It's worth it 👍👍
I’m trying! (Rex would say “very…..” ) 😂😂😂

Hope you’re both enjoying your travels 😊👍

We bought our Morocco in 2013 and are still using it. At the time they didn't do a Transit version so it's on a Ducato chassis which has been fine. If we bought again I would be tempted by Ford but the new automatic 'box in the Fiat is excellent and that might tip us back to Fiat. We went for the Morocco as it can do double or single beds and has the same great lounging area as the Morello.

Take Rex's delivery estimates with a pinch of salt. I had to wait a year having been quoted six months. :) I suspect as a small converter they don't have the clout to get their orders to the front of the queue. But at least you have placed an order as there was a period last year when they couldn't quote anyone a price as the manufacturers in turn couldn't give them a price for the base vehicle.

And with an order you can now join the Murvi Club. There are several rallies a year which are always good fun, we try to go to at least one a year and would do more if we weren't in mainland Europe almost every spring and autumn. We didn't think we were "rally people" but we're converted after the first one. It is a very friendly and decidedly un-snobbish group.

Ordered our Pimento XL in April 22, same story as you, but they say patience is good for the soul!

Hi John

We met once, a while ago now, when we were deciding whether or not to order a Murvi. We had an automatic (9 speed) Ducato based Malibu. You very kindly showed us your Murvi at your home. We sold our Malibu last summer, thinking we wouldn’t achieve as good a price if we held on to it, but also believed we wouldn’t be without a van for so long. The new Fiat automatic transmission, by the way, is good but our drive in the Ford Morello Rex was using as a demo showed us that the Ford ‘box was better (along with a very smooth engine and ride).

I’m looking forward to the rallies (I’ve already joined the Murvi club) and hope to see you soon!

Not a quality I’m blessed with, unfortunately. It wouldn’t be so bad if I hadn’t got rid of my van so soon. Ah well….I’m sure the wait will be worth it 👍

We still have our m/h - hoping for a couple of months notice for selling it. It may yet be that I envy your foresight in selling early, who knows! 🤞

Jason,

Many thanks, I remember now! Hopefully it will arrive this year. :)

Hi Jason, you've prompted my first post on here (having 'stolen' countless great ideas from other funsters over the years).

We took delivery of our Murvi Morello mid November '22. It's on the Ducato base. We ordered it in Jan '22 and Rex gave an expected delivery from FIAT as 12 - 13 months. However, in May he called and asked us to finalise the spec, as he was getting deliveries from FIAT much earlier than expected. The Certificate of Conformity states ours was built on 24th May; not sure when Murvi received it.

As for your other questions, we chose it to replace our first ever campervan - a 2007 3 litre Murvi Morello .... we just love the spacious lounge area, where we (my wife and I) can spread out and relax. We've gone for the Fiat version again because it gives us slightly bigger windows, which we really like. Murvi also managed to squeeze in 300 Ah of Lithium batteries, 350 Watts of solar and an up-rated B2B, to allow for charging electric bikes off-grid. We're still on our original pushbikes, so not tested this yet, but so far we struggle to get the batteries to drop below 100% charge for more than 30mins :giggle:. We've also got the 2.2 litre 160bhp engine - on paper the same spec as the last one, which was a joy to drive; the new one seems less powerful, but perhaps it needs to loosen up a bit? As for storage, we bought a roof box for our first one, and used it only once - we don't travel light and have found more than enough storage for our needs; our new one is plated at 4250Kg to cope with all our stuff!

So, try to be patient! We have 15 years of brilliant memories from our previous van, and plan to repeat the same with the new one. Off to Crete in it in two weeks, to celebrate a couple of 70th birthdays 🫢.

That all sounds very positive, thank you! Enjoy your trip to Crete (and a very happy 70th birthday to the pair of you 😊)
