We bought 3 bottles of sugar soap to redecorate the hall, dining room and lounge. Spoke to Zinsser Tech Dept who told us NOT to use it, because it leaves residues that can mar the finish. 'Wash walls with soapy water, rinse and then apply methylated spirits with a sponge [we wrapped an old twel around the sponge to control the spray/dribbles] and leave to evaporate'It is a really good base for any painting job. The paint we used didn't call for an undercoat but knowing how well it adheres to anything it made sense to use it.
In the end the process was number and dismantle all the cupboard doors. light sand everything, sugar soap, two coats of BIN primer, sand again, rinse everything then two coats of top coat

With doors and drawers the best approach is to spray the surfaces after well preparing by rubbing with suitable glass paper of wet and dry. BTW, there never was anything made called sandpaper which used sand it was always made with old glass bottles ground to a powder but because it looks like sand that is how it got its name!Hi all, mines a Pug Boxer conversion nicely done ( not by me) but the internal cabinetry colour is a bit , well, nursing homey if you know what I mean.
