Taking ferry over to Calais on Thursday just looking at Foreign Office advice and apparently you can’t take meat or dairy products with you? Does that mean I should travel with empty fridge and do a super shop once I get accross? Was planning to stock up fridge beforehand but don’t want to get hassled over a bit of ham/bacon milk/cheese!

Yes I wanted to cook a couple of meals and stick them in the fridge for the journey down to Spain one less thing to worry about but as Soycd says they do have shops in France! 👍 Thanks for the heads up on cite Europe Sangat it will have to be!
I’m following Tonka’s guide which may need updating! He mentions Wissant 50.886876, 1.670583 as alternate to Cite Europe is that still open?

I have read something about Wissant recently, I think there was a problem. I will try and find it.

You had a few sherbets tonight? 😂:
It’s the rules that were referred to as stupid 😂👍🏻👍🏻

Nope only salted peanuts tonight, and the wording of the post being replied to lead me to view it differently. (y)

I understood that if it was for your own consumption then it was fine. I don’t have a definitive source for that information though.

That's not correct, unfortunately. The official information is clear that there are no 'personal consumption' exceptions.

Been closed some days and beach departures meaning some nocturnal activity.
Looks like I’ll have to resort to plan C! Arrive in Calais 14.40 wasn't planning to drive too far on first day weather forecast not looking great but now Cite Europe and Wissant are out can anyone recommend any other overnight stops within an hour of Calais?

I would stop off at City Europe to stock up with wine and cheese and ham and crevette. Then head to Sangat

The packaging states that they are "Jumbo", jumbo my arse are they. :madder:
I sympathise. I've boycotted M&S and Tesco as their 'Jumbo' peanuts are not as described anymore. Morrisons seems to be the last bastion of the only true 'Jumbo' peanut.

We have stayed here a few times on the way out and back, only 20 min easy drive plenty of room and the village a few mins walk away, shops, bakery and a few restaurants.
Only bad thing is it’s dead on a Sunday so lucky to find any life in the village

No checks ex UK except gas, no check into UK except looking for stowaways.

Gravelines or Sangatte is probably best with Gravelines having a nice traditional french market nearby.

There's a Lidl at Cite Europe if you need to get stuff but there are plenty of them now so unless you really need to I'd go further and get away from the 'wandering chancers', last thing you want is to find that some prat has tried to get into your MH whilst you're shopping which could happen as they won't know if you've just arrived or are on your way back to the UK and also there are those who just want to nick stuff too.

We were going to go to Montreil for our first night (past Boulogne) but with the way the weather is likely to be rather than drive in the dark in slippery conditions and mess about getting fuel at Boulogne we'll probably go to Sangatte instead which will give us time to relax and get sorted (empty cassette etc) for a bit longer travelling in the daylight. As it'll be Bella's first trip we don't want to overdo it especially as we'll have had a long journey to Folkstone the day before.
