Few years now
We have done the Timmeljock a few times on a motorbike, just wondered if anyone had done it in a motorhome. May be heading that way in September so have a choice of a few passes. Dont think the Stelvio is suitable, so its between the easy option of the Brenner Pass or the Timmeljock. Seem to recall a small tunnel at some point on the route.
Thanks

Timmelsjoch pass above Solden, we did it in 2022 with a 6.7m motorhome on a Mercedes Sprinter base.
Technically not a problem at all, we even gave the big bikes a run for their money!

It was 30c in the valley and 4c on the top of the pass, with snow, in July !
Best campsite in the valley on the Austrian side is the one at Langerfield
The best one on the Italian side is Camping Zoghoff

Solden is a bit of a dump, I remember it as a quaint Alpine town 30+ years ago. It now has 3 strip joints on the main drag ......

Below is a video of a Hymer MLT 650 (not ours!) doing the Timmelsjoch, in winter.
(But they stop at the border and dont go down the Italian side)

Stevio pass, not done, but did do the GrossGlockner, which has a €27 toll, but is worth every penny on a clear day

Been across Timmelsjoch twice in our van. Both times from the Austrian side and most recently this May not long after it opened for the season. I can’t remember any tunnels but there may be some, regardless it was no problem. You have to pay a toll to cross and it closes at night. The time before last we stayed overnight at the top and it was very quiet.

Just came back over the Fluela pass last week and thought it was a bit diifficult. Mind we did it in the middle of a bad storm, thunder and lightening, torrential rain and a little hail, partly in cloud. Glad to get down. Motorhome, not bike :giggle:
