That's interesting thanks. MrS wants it mainly for golf. This type of thingOne of my golfing buddies had one on last Saturday and complained of being to warm, he was well wrapped up as it was -2.

True, your body produces enough heat, the problem is losing it too fast. So you can conserve it with good insulation without extra heat. That is not cheap, however, and is not found in Sports Direct! I have a down jacket by Peter Hutchinson Designs (PHD). It weighs almost nothing and is wonderfully warm. Made in England too so I will shamelessly plug them. PHD keep a very small stock and may have your size in stock but if not they will make it. Special requests e.g. longer sleeves for the size, come included. Quality? When I ordered mine, they said that there might be up to 22 days delay because they were busy making a load of down items for Ranulph Fiennes' next Antarctic expedition. That's the sort of league that their stuff is in.If stationary, like riding a motorbike, sitting on cold riverbank fishing, sounds good......but the most important aspect is conserve bodyheat, regulate ventilation......buy a well insulated jacket that maintains heat, down etc, and a means of venting we you are hot......my opinion only...
I have the standalone Oxford waistcoat that runs off small rechargeable batteries. They last a couple of hours on low which is adequate on a motorbike with decent gear.I have a heated oxford vest that I use when I ride in the cold. It works on 12v plugged in and four settings for heat output. Combined with heated grips, I can ride in -10degC as long as there is no ice on the road.
I’m trying to adapt it to power it from dewalt 18v pack. The dewalt jacket suppose to be really good but last time I checked it was over 170 quid.
