Any Vespa lovers out there ?

My RD is still on the same engine rebuild after 21 years, don’t use it much and have restored it twice in that time.
Wow, that’s lovely. A mate has one of each engine size of those as well as one of each engine size of the LCs. They’re all in immaculate condition.

Loving the pipes! My brother has got one almost identical but he's managed to blow a hole in one of the crankcases.
They do sound nice, I did have the original pipes with NOS headers but sold them with all my other NOS spares a few years back as I lost interest in restoring bikes🙁🙁
Someone on eBay just paid £270+ for a NOS mirror :Eeek::Eeek:
Think I should have kept the other bikes:crying::crying:

Blimey that's proper nice. Bordering on too nice to ride.
It does get a good thrashing although not been on the road for 3 years as I’ve been busy on other stuff🙁🙁
Will strip it and clean it up ready for next year and it will go in the MH garage

Might have been one of the new twist and go's that are a blatent copy.

Sorry to say my first thought were ( thats not original )

I’ve owned over 200 bikes of which 15 were probably scoots
I think one was a lambretta 225 special with 2 saddles
that was 45 years ago & it was old then 🥺

The lambretta was probably a LD150

A GP 225 Special? The LD series was replaced, IIRC, by the GP [Grand Prix] series, but Inever progressed beyond the 3 speed Lambretta J125 ... (y)

……..but you can also find some wonderfully different bikes, in a variety of styles. The Guzzi, Ducati, Triumph ranges being a case in point.
Yes, we have some of those. ;) Not the latest iterations but from an era with stonking engines from the Carcano, Tonti & Todero era.

Scam or no scam.
I can’t say except even if it’s a scam it looks amazing. My sons friends mother gave it to my son free so no scam there. As for its credence it looks like some investigation is necessary but no money was involved so I can’t see it as an intentional scam. If they are “nammers” then I certainly wouldn’t ship one over and I thank you all for the input highlighting the potential problem.

Nope, LD was replaced by the Series 1, then Series 2 then Series 3 slimstyles.

PaulC70 , do you know if there was a 225 special lambertta ( don’t think it was a Vespa )

it was so long ago & I can’t find any info on it

AF (Arthur Francis) Rayspeed used to rollout tuned ‘S-Type’ Lambrettas which were bloody lovely, they did 225 and maybe 250 versions.

I remember it as having the 225special written on a chrome badge in cursive/script hand writing

there wasn't a factory 225 special. Silver specials from factory were 125 and 150, Golden specials the same, the only 200cc's were the Series 3 SX, TV or GP (GP had a rectangular headlight).
As said above though, it was not uncommon for the 200 to be bored out to 225 and some dealers did this as a dealer "special"

The LD series Lambretta was very early I had one it had smaller front and came with single seats the one I had had only one seat the Li series followed.

Passed my test on an LD with a single seat and one of the questions was (what would you need to do to the bike to carry a passenger)
