As per title, we need ideally (we can't get there until about 6pm anyhow) a Aire between Birmingham and Manchester to use the day before Christmas Eve to get up to family in the lakes.

Any suggestions on suitable stopover, we don't need services or water, and would prefer not to just use Lydd/Stafford services.

The reason being we want to minimise driving on one of the busiest days of year (Christmas Eve!) if at all possible.

The maps of "campra etc" aires seem to suggest a lot of their sites are shut in Deceber when I checked, hence why asking. Given it's likely a busy night I'd like to prebooki this week if possible, as I can't imagine we are only one moving that day.

Should update the thead with the end result;
Stayed at the Penkridge car park, we partook in the local Chinese, and shopped in the local shops, then made our way following morning to Lancashire/Lakes.

Excellent park up that, and we were joined by 4 other vans.

Local co-op (across the road) had a bakery which made fresh Mince pies for christmas day, which was rather nice picking them up Christmas eve whilst still warm in the morning. At £1 for 4 it also didn't break the bank, and allowed us to also pickup some Mint tea as we used our last teabag in the van the previous night.

We will be using the same parkup next year on several of our trips as it's ideal what with 5 pubs in walking distance, several takeouts (Fish n Chips and Chinese and Indian) and is ideal when you just need a 7pm-10am stop.
