Any one driven from UK, through France to Spain in recent days?

We are booked on the tunnel to travel through for a number of weeks now, we are ready to go mid jan should all be well.

I too agree that taking care and travelling/ isolating in the MH is very safe, but it still doesnt come under the scope of being within rules/guidance so have to stick to the rules.

I was stuck away during the first lockdown and had to get home, and it was a nervy experience travelling and stopping in places where we were not wanted.

As long as you stick to the rules/guidance, good luck to you I say.

A friend of mine left the UK on Saturday evening and travelled Sunday and Monday through Calais, Bordeaux, San Sebastian, Madrid to arrive in Malaga. He's also booked on the ferry to Gran Canaria on Saturday afternoon.
Restrictions in Spain are tight for the locals with fines of 690 Euros if you're caught outside your municipality. The police have zero interest in engaging with a foreign motorhome. It's far too complicated for them. He had no issue at the border and although he saw a couple of police in Spain again they had no interest.
Honour the curfews of each country so don't be on the roads between 11pm-6am as they come with very hefty fines.
He found the mobile home type campsites will likely reject you if you haven't been in the direct vicinity for at least 24 hours prior so no overnight stops at them.
There is no requirement to have a PCR test when travelling in a vehicle, those are requirements for air travel. However you could do yourself a favour by having one with you. A quick test is available in Spain for 45 Euros. It's pretty unreliable but if it swings in your favour it's a cheap alternative to appease the authorities if you intend to constantly travel in the country.
I'll let you know if he experiences any issues on entering Gran Canaria.

I live by the beach in Somerset and we have remained in lockdown since March we still end up in Tier 3 thanks to all the visitors getting away we would be far safer going away in our motorhome which we are now considering.
Go for it, I’m going on the 16th December

We (two ancient adults with a dog) were hoping to spend a couple of months down on the Algarve and the Costa de Luz, leaving early in the New Year. As well as noting the various and ever changing regulations together with the 'morality' of such a trip, we came to the conclusion it would be too much hassle.

As an aside broadband is being installed locally - for the past week the 3 man gang of ground workers all over 60 have worked almost without break (no PPE or SD) - could only admire them
PPE stands for Personal Protective Equipment. If they were working for a reputable company (wanting to comply with the Health and Safety at Work Act (1974)) then they will have performed a risk assessment and determined what PPE they needed to wear. Probably at least boots with steel toecap boots and gloves. The RA should state why no facemasks needed. Failure to do so risks exposing them to penalties under HSWA or, worse still, Corporate Manslaughter.
And before I get slammed for the UK's HSE culture, last year there were 114 workplace fatalities, down from about 140/year in 2018 and down from about ~700/year when Funsters were young (and before the HSWA) - although ~2,400 people died last year due to historical asbestos exposure. And the UK has the lowest rate of workplace fatalities in Europe, becasue of our good HSE culture.

Macron is reviewing restrictions on the 15th , but if daily figures are not below 5000 new cases per day the restrictions will stay. Currently the figures are steady at about 11000 per day, so it's unlikely to change

There will be an announcement on French Tv tomorrow 10th, not expecting great news, I do not envy the government trying to do the "right thing" when everyone has their own view of the right thing depending on how it may effect themselves. Not worried about wondering off topic, show me a op that does not.....

When arriving by ferry into GC he will need a PCR test that was done in the 72 hours prior to arrival.

Logistically problematic I would have thought.

Off topic some more.......in a recent poll here in France 54% of french are going to refuse to be vaccinated so beating this virus is going to be almost impossible. Vaccination passports are going to have to be universal. No passport No entry will be the new normal.

Unintentionally my post appears to have attracted opinionated individuals who must wait like coiled springs for an opportunity to hijack a post to use as a personal platform in order voice whatever opinion they have rather than offer of anything constructive relating to the question.
I’m also curious to know where I have indicated in the post my wish to try and dodge police. To clarify, my objective is to travel legally to Spain, not to discuss the moral aspects of legitimate travel during a pandemic or the finer points of epidemiology with an attention pursuing respondent who wishes to convey a personal opinion

We have postponed our trip to south of Spain until 28th December as we think all restrictions are lifted before Xmas and we need to be in Spain before the transition period ends as we have a little Dog with a pet passport.
We always do the tunnel since an awful sea crossing to Bilbao quite a few years ago, and that seems to be the best way to go atm.
Good luck with your trip and stay safe all you funsters

To be succinct I didn’t post my question to give you a platform to voice an opinion, which you clearly went out of your way to do. Your opinion is exactly that, yours and certainly isn’t shared by everyone on this site. If you can’t offer a constructive answer I respectively ask you to keep your opinions to yourself. When I feel the need for any moral or lifestyle guidance I will without question private message you.
I must be getting dafter as I get older.

My reply was to a comment made by goneoff and "not you". Do you consider as the OP you should control all postings even when they make reference to postings from others??

Might I respectfully suggest that if you wish to post and only receive replies that please you, maybe your private diary is where you should be posting.

You might find that many countries have the same view ....lots in the uk don't want it either

It should always remain a choice ...if the most vulnerable want it and those most at risk go for it ...
Anything that becomes compulsory is going down the wrong path and at the minute that isnt the case

My mums 76 she doesnt want it either.

Tombola, Have you been advised to purchase a return ticket to show when you intend to exit the area we know as Schengen? I have read recently (in a document likely to be incorporated into a GOV document) that one will be necessary
I heard similar but at the time of booking all details were vague and the 2nd lockdown hadnt happened. SO I booked a fully flexible ticket (about 30 quid extra I think) for both legs so I could prostpone for up to 12 months without extra charge or loss

I dont know why the are introducing that other than laziness on their behalf ....i personally would not know when i was leaving as even with the 90 in 180 rule there are a lot of country's outwith shengen that you could be visiting before re entering

Just arrived in Santander today, parked up at Somoparque.
At Portsmouth they asked to see my negative test results to get onto ferry at the custom booth.
Prior to getting off the ferry at Santander, Spanish came on board and took temperature test and asked for the paper form FCS inglés_barco_V3, which they took away in a carrier bag.
Normal passport control and no one asked for my Covid free test certificate on entry to Spain.
At no point did any customs official check the vehicle either side.

Another Crystal Ball prediction ?
