We had planned 8 to 10 weeks away but our house move that should of happened in October got postponed due to the twats that were buying it dropping out when we were ready to exchange contracts. We've got another buyer but as our train ticket can go beyond April we decided to get away anyway but cut it short to 6 weeks. We have signed contracts so hoping we can exchange while we are away and complete early to mid March.

So the big day arrived with the 12.17 train booked but we set off early hoping to catch an earlier one but the A12 put paid to that. Broken down vehicles, mist and traffic held us up, we did get there at 11 but they had cancelled the next train.

Thick fog in france (visibility down to 30m on places) also held us up so instead of getting to Nonancourt as we wanted we got to just past Pont D'Arche to a nice little village before it got dark.

Plan is to get to Spain then down to Sevilla then turn right to Portugal if it's nice or left for Ronda and the costas.

I'm doing a polar steps if interested.

Tonight's stop

Bit of a long drive but sun has come out so every cloud. Strange everywhere still has Christmas decorations up.

Now at Vivonne right in town. Couple of bakers and a butchers as well as a few restaurants, it seems tacos are in vogue as 3 places selling them.

Tonight's stop, excuse the dirty van, it was clean when we left yesterday but back just seems to collect it.

Cold start at minus 3 but clear sky so sun has been out all day and we have had to break out the sun glasses. Now 12 or 13 and feeling quite warm.

Was going to fill water this morning, put my €2 in the bourne but nothing came out, empried grey and black ok. Stopped at an airefor coffee that had water so filled up there.

Nice little village with a place to park, will do for tonight before we go into Spain tomorrow.

Tonight's stop

Started off cold but warmed up as we headed into Spain. Stopped at Al Campo for fuel and a few provisions then onto Vitoria Gastiez, lovely town and capital of the basque region.

Tonight's stop, had to book on an app but it's free but lots of vans in the car park which I guess they'll stop once you have to pay.

Longish drive to try and get south and away from sub zero overnight temperatures. Salamanca is a lovely old town with so many old churches and colleges, bit quiet on a Sunday but it made it easier to take piccies.

Tonight's stop is next to some lovely allotments with paths through to a new bridge to walk into town. Bit of a trek but looked the best option.

Trying to upload multiple files instead of individual photos.

Just a pit stop tonight as it's missing down and looks set for a few days so maybe rethinking plans and do Sevilla and Ronda later.

Pity about the rain as it's an interesting town with a ham museum and lots of shops.

Edit: Forgot to say free leccy so I've plugged in to run fridge and a bit of heat and water (on mix 2 setting) so that will please uncle Lenny HB 🤣🤣

After torrential rain last night and this morning we eventually got out of the doom and gloom into Sevilla. Staying at the port so got the bus into the city.

What a beautiful place with stunning buildings and cathedral. Well worth a visit and so much to see we will have to come back to see more of it.

Really like Vitoria, it's fun getting into the Aire for first time with the new system.

Nice stop overlooking the beach. Was going to go into Cadiz but ferry not running (once I'd found it) and looks like wind and rain tomorrow so we will move on eastward to get out of it.

At least it's warmed up though so just T shirts so every cloud.

Moved on to try and get some sun as it was forecast rain, pity as we would have liked to of stayed anothet day or so. Good move as it's been lovely and we've had to put shorts on so every cloud 😀

Nice stop overlooking the beach with a little bar and restaurant. Very busy and rammed with vans.

We are just north of this stop at the Arte Vida hotel, the main one was more like a gypsy camp.

If you’re looking for a nice stopover not too far away, we stayed at the port in Barbate. Port has everything you need including washer and dryer, the beach just outside the gate to the left is stunning and great cycle path both ways, if you turn left it’s a decent climb for a couple of miles be easily doable if fit or have EBike.
